i7-970 temps please check

Thread Starter
Hi Everyone,

Just finished building a system on the i7-970 cpu. I'm not a big overclocker, I hope to just get this system stable so I can start putting important things on it without worried about a BSOD coming to visit if I put to much of a workload on it. I ran Prime for an hour exactly. The screen cap below is at the end of the test, before I shut it down. Can you tell me if it's acceptable? Thanks..

Perfectly fine temps, especially since your under air. i7's can run to 90C and still be working great.

whew! thanks..I haven't built a system in years..and applying the TIM always gets me nervous. What I will do now is a 24 hour burn-in using Prime95. Any tests that anyone can suggest I run that would assure me of this systems stability would be appreciated.

Intel Burn Test and LinX are good. On IBT, go for 20 runs on max stress with 12 threads if you're using HT, 6 if not. LinX is pretty similar. I'm just regurgitating stuff I've found here.

Thats actually really good. I was converting 24* 720P movies last night and all my cores where at mid 80s for 2-3 hours. So I'm pretty sure your chip can take a lot more.

Sweeeet. That's what I like to hear. For now I'll settle for a good stable system and then experiment. I'm going to do the tests recommended now.
