Needing Imput on 1st time.

Hey Y'all.

I'm thinking of watercooling my first system and I'd like some imput from others as to the things I'm ordering. I'm basically just thinking of a simple, single loop for my Crossfired 5850's. Sadly with my Case and Motherboard the 2 cards sit too tightly together for the first card to "breathe" and the temp rises to above the 70's.

So here goes, my list!

2x EK-FC5850 with 4x 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD compression fittings.
Swiftech Laing DDC-1T Pump
XSPC Single Bay Reservoir with 2x 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD compression fittings.
Black Ice GT Stealth 360 Radiator with 2x 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD compression fittings and 3x 120mm fans, which I haven't decided on.

I was thinking of, obviously, 1/2" ID tubing. However I think that the Laing pump doesn't support it, so am I right in assuming that the length of tubing from the Reservoir to the pump and from the Pump to the Radiator would be smaller? (3/8" ID, I think it is)

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

[Edit: Also, is there a forum thread I could post my project on. So I can get feedback along the way or would it just be here in the Watercooling section?]

aftermarket top on ddc.

it increases flow and you can put any barbs/ fittings to suit your hose size

Thanks for the reply, so it obviously means I need to read up some more on the DDC.

[Edit: After Alittle more reading up, I've thought of getting the XSPC acylic pump top and possibly some Red LED's for it, that should allow me to fit the fittings for 1/2" ID tubing. Thanks for the little info on the aftermarket tops, it wasn't readily apparent that I could get them.]

Heh, Exactly what I was thinking. I'm hoping to post pics up ah-la mini Project, however signing up here was a spur-of-the-moment thing so I don't even have my 2nd HD 5850 here with me

For your fans I would recommend the gentle typhoon 1850 rmp or higher fans they are very quiet and do great without having to install shrouds. I use them in my set up and they do a great jos cooling my xspc rasa 360 rad.

Why not get this : http://www.watercoolinguk.co.uk/p/12...tech_3740.html . With this one you don't need a top.

Arksniper: I was thinking of 3x Aerocool 120mm 1500rpm but after looking around I've noticed that the Typhoons are quite popular with Watercoolers.

mm67: That is another intresting top, I've been looking around since starting. Thanks for bringing it to my attention too

[Edit: I just noticed, is this the HAF 932 Owners meeting? ]

That's actually a pump, it's cheaper than MCP355 with a top and performs better.

I had noticed that, although looking at the second picture they have up you get the impression it might be just the pump head. Seems like everythings nearly in place for me to start getting the stuff in.
I was thinking of a single loop for my two 5850's and possibly another loop for my i7 with a single 120 radiator .. or do you suggest them all on one loop with the CPU getting the priority?
