UnAble to reach 4.5GHz !!

Thread Starter
hi everyone, I'm having a problemo with my CPU (not sure it's the CPU) and i hope you could you help me ..

the Configurations are :

Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00 GHz OCed to 4.23 GHz ( Default. 1.25000 - OCed. 1.32500volt )
8 GB GSkill 800 MHz OCed to 940 MHz ( Default 1.8 - OCed. 1.940 volt )
GigaByte GeForce GTX 470 800/1600/1800 ( 1.75 volt )
Thermaltake 750 W EVO_Blue Series

As yoou can see, the CPU is OCed to 4.23 now .. and when I try to overclock more it doesn't work.. restart then settings go default !!

I want to reach 4.7 GHz .. I need the RIGHT voltages to reach the goal.

and I think the RAM will go up more than 1066 ,, I need the right voltages for both of 'em ...

One Last question .. Do I have to increase the volts of the motherboard like MCH and PLL and etc. ?!

thanks in advance

Not all cpu's will overclock high, try raising the vcore up to something in the 1.45 - 1.5 area, there will be a point that no matter how much voltage you give it, it won't go faster - also try using just 4GB, 8GB can be hard to run sometimes

4gb may not be enough but it may be the only way you will get to 4.5ghz....

You already have a 1.2ghz overclock, and mad bc you can't reach a 1.5ghz overclock? I don't see how this is a problem.

There is never a 'right' voltage, only what voltage works for your setup/clock.

What are you cooling the CPU with?

I agree with the others that you should remove 2 sticks of ram and run it at its slowest setting until you reach your desired CPU clock, THEN start bringing the ram back up to speed.
