You're a PC specialist and yet you tell him to buy an incredibly overpowered PSU for an average CPU/GPU, and then recommend him triple channel RAM when the board is dual channel, not to mention the fact that you recommended a WD Caviar BLUE as the only drive.

I hope you don't do this for a living.

I think I may be going crazy, work is kicking my butt right now. I just searched for the GTX 460 and got the one that updated above in Green. Would it be wise to upgrade to an i7 and increase RAM a bit? Maybe the 3 x 2GB Sticks that the person above posted?

Is this a gaming computer? If so, a Core i7 would be a waste, and if you get 6 GB, you're still running on a dual channel motherboard and you'd have three DIMMs, with one running in single channel mode. Either get 2x2 GB, or 2x4 GB if you need more than 4 GB (which you most likely don't) but not 3x2.

Also, I recommend against a GTX 460 SE like the one you mentioned. Get a regular GTX 460.

2x4gb makes more sense than that and its really unnecessary for most people as 2x2GB is plenty. the i7's are nice but really unneeded for most people (theyre really just for dick measuring and media editting)
I would stick with the i5 and find some CL7 1600 dual channel kits

No, no, no, please no. Dominator is of course good RAM, and it's also a HUGE rip-off.

If you really want to use Triple Channel memory that bad, then you have to upgrade to i7. It's not really worth it to be honest, save yourself a wad of cash and just go i5, and use 2x4GB or 2x2GB and get another 2x2GB in the future if you wish. 8GB isn't even necessary either, sure it helps, but if you really need 8GB and are using all of it, I would suggest putting your PC in a freezer so it doesn't implode on its own gravitational force.

For a GPU, a GTX 460 is perfect. I don't know what reso you'll be playing most of your games at, so just pick one that will suit your needs from this list.

I'm going to stick with the current CPU and the updated RAM that I added which is 2 x 2GB unless someone thinks I should get something else. I have also updated the graphics card once again to one without the SE. A lot more expensive than the previous graphics card I had selected but I saved $85 on the operating system and about the same on the PSU.

Now what are the thoughts?

- Here's a cheaper hard drive that's just as good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152181
For an extra $5, you could get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152185 instead.

- Do not buy Coolmax power supplies. They are almost invariably turds.
Currently looking for an alternative for you.

Thanks. I was a bit lost on the power supplies couldn't seem to find one that looked decent so I selected one at random to get opinions. I am checking out those two hard drives now.
