OK. Found this guy selling Windows 7 Ultimate for cheap. Says its Full Retail Un-Opened. Before I buy this, is it possible through MS website or something to check and make sure the serial is not already used or make sure its a true copy?

Some retail boxes are counterfeit, make sure to properly inspect the microsoft seal of authenticity on it.

I've contacted MS support previously to ask them whether cheap keys being sold by a website were genuine. Surprisingly (to me at least) their response was that they had no comment/didn't care/weren't interested.

I would avoid anybody or anything advertising cheap windows licenses like the plague. There's too much room to get screwed over when it's not from Microsoft themselves or from a reputable store like Newegg/TigerDirect/etc.

MS Support probably didn't case have intrest or any comment as support doesn't have anything to do with the legal department. They probably aren't allowed to speak on terms of legal or not on outside companies as support generally doesnt have vendor information/agreements.

Even oem's do not get that fat of a discount on licenses. Not to say that it's a legit copy obtained by not legitimate means... but the sticker is the best way to tell.

Or the guy has a heat sealer and the serial written down somewhere...

anyways, here's a start

That's not going to keep anyone from being able to install the O/S, a simple call to MS's automated activation solves that problem.
