Some 'Space' Issues on Asus Rampage III Extreme

Thread Starter
I am thinking of building a killer rig. I have one issue, actually 2. The first one is the big one, I am planning on putting 4 x GTX 580 Palit 3GB Cards, but will they take up all possible space and make it impossible to squeeze in a Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Titanium Champion PCI-e 4x card in.

Heres an image :

My second issue is, I am putting in an i7 Extreme 990x CPU in, I am thinking of using a Corsair CWCH50-1 Water Cooling System. Is this cooling system enough and what heat paste is recommended, I was thinking of Arctic Silver MX-3 or Indigo Extreme.

Also will this mobo with 4 GTX580s fit in a Antec Dark Fleet DF-85 Case with 1200W MPSU

Thanks

Please note, I have just discovered an error in my image.

The Killer NIC is discontinued and it also would take up the PCI-e 4x port.

So I think I'll stick to internal ethernet or find a different PCI-e card.

you can't 4-way SLI with the RIIIE. you need the ROG expander.

Your other spacing is a little off in this case also. First one is cool, second one is gonna take over that other slot so no sound there, third is gonna kill that pci slot then forth is gonna go over.

The only case i know of is the HAF X but there is also a lian li case but i don't remember the name gonna look now.

edit: forgot about the 4way sli thing good catch on that..... might just wanna go classified if this is your goal.

just look for something that has a lot of expansion slots.... you also have to see how the rog expander modifies the board cause the extra width could be a problem for some cases if it exceeds the standard specifications.

Will the HAF X support the Water cooling I plan to use with the i7 990x and will it fit the ROG Expander that DriftingForLife is talking about?

The EVGA Classified motherboard

And to be honest, I think you're be better off just getting 3 GTX580s, even if money is basically no object, you're not going to gain much performance from having 4, but you are going to get some very hot GTX580s running them all right next to each other.

With regard to cooling, a custom water cooling loop (or two) with water blocks on the CPU and all the GPUs would be best. That would sort out the heat and clearance issues with the GPUs
