Some 'Space' Issues on Asus Rampage III Extreme - Page 4

As I said, I might go down to just 2 GTX 580s, would Air Cooling and a good case (HAF X or something) be good enough (CPU would stay on Corsair H70)

Is Arctic Silver MX-3 good for watercooling CPUs?

Last thing, the mobo needs to support 2000 MHz RAM (since I am using Dominator GT)

In reality the only time you would need watercooling is if you have large overclocks on your components and air cooling cant keep up with the heat being put out. This is why I moved back to air cooling from water, because I didnt have a need for it anymore and it was more of a hassle to maintain and worry about than it was worth.
The only thing I may OC is the CPU, the GPUs I dont really want to fart around with. So I may want to stay with Water cooling on the CPU.

But say I dont want to OC anything, and I go with the DF-85, will air cooling suffice?

the H70 uses shiatsu (sp?) it's great TIM already.

HAF X is one of the best air cooled cases...so you should be good to go

, since you are using a single 1080 3d monitor, you should be more than happy w/ 2x580's

Yeah It will be the Acer 3D 23.6" Inch. I will use it for 3D Movies, Black Ops 3D, Crysis 2 (dunno if it can do 3D)

I will go with the HAF X.

So Are you saying the H70 has the Thermal Paste already applied?

It fits in the rampage so it's cool it has 4 pci-e slots spaced appropriately just can't do the 4 way sli.

And I can get my soundcard, also with a good enough case not sure which yet) I'm sure air cooling would suffice for the GTXes
I think at this point that one antec h50 knock off was doing pretty good in terms of these quasi wataercoolers, if were going back to air look at the d-14. I got my h50 for cheap and it's a pretty good performer but i mean eventually the pumps gonna go out air coolers don't got nothing to go out besides fans.

haf x is good for gpus cause of that huge side fan.

Could still do CPU for watercooling by the time you pay for the h70 mines well go for the rasa kit.

and yes the h50 and h70 come with a thick layer of shin etsu applied.

Yes, a good aircooler can easily handle a 990X even with a moderate overclock. The high end aircoolers actually outperform the H70 with the right fans according to some tests.

The H70 should come with a really good TIM already on it if I am not mistaken.

Most high end boards will support 2000MHz ram

be careful w/ high end air coolers...ie. Silver Arrow.

The reason I went w/ the H70 is b/c my SA didn't fit on my mobo, the chipset heatsink made mounting the SA impossible.

so far the H70 has handled my 920@4.2 w/ 1.35 volts w/ out any hiccups

Right so if I go for the Coolermaster HAF X, 2 GTX 580s (air cooled). The only thing left to worry about is should I stay with the Rampage III Extreme or go for Classified.

Also @Lithgroth007 -- What kind of aircoolers? Could you show me?

This may be a bit off topic. But why are you going with the 990X? In all reality it is not worth the money when you could have a i7-2600K for less than half the price and only a very slight drop in performance, if any at all.
