When I see a game say "Press Enter", while I am playing with my Microsoft 360 Controller, I immediately stand up and uninstall the game. That just ruins the game for me. I mean..really? It's pretty racist.

/sarcasm

I'm downloading the demo now, I hope it has some good in it.

Merits of the game? I think the details of how this is MANY steps backwards compared to original is clearly evident in the many threads on here. If you can't see them, then that's your problem. But the fact of the matter is 10 days ago Cevat Yerli comes out with a statement urging PC gamers to support Crytek and that they will not be disappointed by the game. So this is what he's referring to? Demos are usually indicative of the final game to entice people to buy the product on release. I highly doubt the game is going to magically get refined for PC versions within the next two weeks.

I think the insult here is Cevat Yerli's statement 2 weeks ago and now basically releasing a demo for PC which reeks of console port. He's smart enough to know how this works. Maybe the demo shouldn't have been released if this is not an indication of the final version for pc.

How about when you see a game say "Press Start" without even any controller plugged in?
I haven't downloaded it yet, but if that isn't fixed by the time the real game ships, I'm going to be really hesitant to buy it.

I didn't think Crytek would make a console port of all companies. This makes me quite upset, I was really looking forward to this game.

Your sarcasm does not compute.

Having a Xbox 360 controller attached does not contend with the fact you STILL have a keyboard attached too, and thus have an "Enter" to press.

Most PC gamers, especially those who are about to play a First Person Shooter, don't have a controller attached. Some don't even have one, period. So, where do you press "Start" ?

And just to add further ridicule, on the PC, there is actually a "Start" key, which is also known as the Windows Logo Key, between the left "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys. It brings up the Start menu, and is disabled on some games, including the demo, so as not to disrupt the game and minimizing to the desktop.

The problem is not with these little things, It's what these little things show about the care they put in developing the PC version. Don't forget the Xbox 360 demo was released earlier too. That was also indicative of the attitude towards the PC platform.

I guess the disclaimer about "This demo is for evaluation purposes only and is not necessarily representative of the final features and quality of the software" means nothing. It might not mean nothing, but at least it give a small glimmer of hope the demo is not representative of the final release.

I admit, I don't know that the release will be any different, it could be worse for all I know. But none of you know for a fact either that it will not be different. We just have to wait and see.

I really hope the game has more features than the demo. Beings it was a multi-platform demo, I hope just the demo was ported (crosses fingers). And I hope the rumors are not true about DX11 not being added right away. As from what I have read....they are just rumors. But, you think Crytek would have come out to disprove them immediately if they were not true.

Side Note:
I found this on another site that some of you might want to try out. Add this to the end of your exe shortcut for the demo....

+cl_fov=90 +r_DrawNearFoV=90 +pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov=90 +r_MotionBlur=0 +g_skipIntro=1

Might help with some of the excessive motion blur and FoV that people don't like.

No one is saying that it is ruined from the console interface. They are saying that it is a slap in the face when Crytek says they will deliver impressive product to PC gamers, when they can't even take time to make sure the interface is for the appropriate platform. And to boot, the one thing EVERYONE was expecting is lackluster in the demo. It doesn't bode well with PC gamer fears of console ports and fan abandonment. They should be in tune to this stuff.

Instead they just say "Oh, they can just use the mouse input, leave it."

You can especially see this with the 3D tilt on the start screen as you move the mouse. That was obviously designed for effect when the controller toggle was pushed about the screen before pushing "start". I'd rather have a menu designed to impact MY PC experience, not patched up menus from what they primarily developed for.

I played the demo for about 30 minutes. Decent controls, no issues running it, runs well, looks nice. I would like to see more modes, but I couldn't listen to the ultra cheesy voice over marine introduction long enough to see them detail it. I'll wait to pass judgement on the game, but I don't blame people for being feisty.

So the only thing y'all are complaining about is the dx9 and the "press start" thing? What did you think of the game?
I thought the screen showed that message only when the controller is used.

Well in that case it's different, I am pretty much put off by watching console buttons on the game, but the game that nailed that pretty good is Bulletstorm. It sees if you press the gamepad button or the keyboard and it changes the layout on the screen instantly. That's what must be the standard for any game. And indeed, why would a company counting their money on the impression their game makes on the clients, fail to see the importance to make something like that better?

Though, I could see them looking at the leaked full game and rushing to release a demo to satisfy the fans. But..I don't really know.
