sh0n, that's why the console industry is the main focus point instead of PCs.

I hate to sound like a you-know-what, but I really do not see how they can improve graphics in a couple weeks, I mean, you need all the discs printed and that takes a while. I wouldn't be surprised if the graphics in single player are horrible, but you know, we may get better graphics with the directx 11 patch!

This is random..
But I only don't pirate games because I'm too lazy to wait that long for a download...I rather buy an expensive game and not wait long.
I'm too impatient..

And it should; the demo is late compared to Xbox 360, it looks like a Xbox 360 port; the original Crysis had a better demo. Why shouldn't we be insulted by the demo ? It's what the title of the thread says : "Insulted by the demo" - not insulted by the full game.

Quote:
He complained about autoaim but if he used common sense or even looked at a few other posts he would realise that it only works if you are using a controller.
And he complained well. Nobody knew it only applied to controllers, until Crytek came out and finally explained it on a FAQ that it only applied to an eventually attached controller. If you don't have a controller, it is hard to even understand that it only applies to that situation if it is not even a grayed out option. THAT is using common sense.

I stand by what I said; had Crytek taken 5 minutes, they could have polished these things. It's not rocket science really - to put a note beside that option explaining. Instead they left it as a leftover from the console.

Quote:
He complained about the rushed port not taking into account that it was only rushed because PC gamers spammed Crytek forums with thousands of posts complaining so they ported it.

Rushed. And you don't even complain about it being a rushed demo ? You sound like you are actually defending them "Oh poor Crytek was forced to do an unpolished demo due to the public pressure" - incidentally from the PC community that made them what they are today.

So you are actually blaming the gamers for their poor handling of the situation ?

You don't even sound like a Crytek employee, you sound like someone who has an irrational faith in an unseen final product.

The main question here is: why did they chose not to release a PC demo in the first place ? Don't we deserve a demo ? The PC community made Crytek. Far Cry, Crysis and Crysis Warhead are PC only games.

Quote:
He complained about graphics not taking into account that Crysis 1 had lower graphics for the MP portion. Everybody conveniently forgets this. And remember Crysis want as many people to try the demo as possible without lag so it makes sense to leave out DX11.
You may have a point with the multi-player part of Crysis, but even then you still had the normal quality settings to choose from; and in Crysis Wars you also had 4 quality settings to choose from.

I wrote in another post I think they should have released a single player demo, just like in the first Crysis; that is what this game is really about; If you state that you have a new Cry Engine 3, you better show it off in the demo so people will buy the game, not do a DX9 MP demo. That is not going to stand out.

You are also forgetting - and so is Crytek - that the PC demo targets a different audience - they made their name on graphics, not on having a smooth game-play in a multi-player demo.

And speaking of smooth game-play - if you manually remove the motion blur and bloom effects - which many people get literally nauseated by, the game also runs smoother and in fact looks better. But alas, you have to know command line parameters to do that, since in-game the option is not there.

If they want people to experience smooth game-play just tell the user what is the optimal setting for their PC. They already did it with Crysis. They should leave the settings for PC users to tweak. And for those less experienced there is always the Low/Medium/High/Very High on the original Crysis; you are not obliged to go to the advanced tab and know what motion blur or physics effects does or how it affects performance. They have oversimplified it so much, you even get the consoles Field of View (FOV) preset, which is very limiting on a decent midrange PC. Again you have to use command line parameters to increase it.

Quote:
Have a sense of perspective. Everybody is ranting and raving over Homefront in backlash to the Crysis 2 demo, although Homefront has not released a demo. Could it be because if they did the backlash would be worse? Now you can buy the game and if it turns out bad then no refund. Give Crysis some credit here. It has such a big rep on the PC that it did not have to put out a demo and everybody would still buy it.

I didn't say I agreed with everybody. I do however agree that Crytek didn't have to put out a demo. But they did put out a demo for the Xbox 360. Given they come from the PC community, it is a hard pill to swallow not to have on on the PC too. I honestly don't know how they didn't see that coming.

Quote:
There is nothing wrong with discussing the game, I just find it incredibly childish when people write "F you Crytek you sold your soul to the console noobs I hope nobody buys this crap MAXIUM CONSOLE LMAO". Just offer some constructive criticism e.g. "I have heard the game will ship without DX11 and this worries me, can I have an official word on the matter? I would like more graphical options can you please sort it as this is not fit for a PC customer" etc. And everyone assumes that the demo will just like the final product because most are, at least witness it first hand or read a review to verify this.
I agree. You should base your criticism on facts. I stated facts in my post and offered constructive criticism. I am yet however still waiting for an official answer from Crytek regarding DX9 release of the full game. Don't you think they should have answered by now ?

Quote:
Telling everyone that they don't care about PC gamers and not to bother buying the game before you even know what the final product contains is not good. How can you say that they have treated you like dirt when in their moment of need you just turn your back on Crytek without giving them the benefit of the doubt? Be fair.
I am being fair. Are they ? People who have come here and in other forums said they had canceled their pre-orders because they couldn't get an answer as to whether the game would come out with DX11 on day one or not. So, they have the gamer's money in advance and don't even bother to explain ? Do you think THAT is fair ?

Quote:
And for those that doubt the power of its graphics take a look at this SP footage running on DX9. Watch it in HD. Undeniably beautiful. Now imagine what it will look like running on DX11. Don't listen to the whiners, stop speculating and hold your tongue till the full release.

Are you now trying to appeal to the sense of faith in gamers ?

"Now imagine what it will look like in DX11" Are you serious ? We want evidence.

And as of now you not only have none, but you have Crytek not answering our questions and treating their PC customers below consoles. And that is a fact.

Having playing the demo just last night for several hours, I have to say that it's not as bad as everyone was saying. I like it, it feels polished, optimized and the graphics comparing them to crysis MP are on par or exceed crysis aside from the horrible water. Infact, the lighting is a lot better than crysis MP lighting ever was. Sure, it might not stress the system as crysis did(crysis MP was a snap to run though) and it might have the single gfx setting, press "start" to begin and aim assist(only works for controllers), but, the MP has improved massively from crysis MP.

I like the quick transition between the suit functions, although, I think they should made speed an option instead on by default if one is to run. Unlocking classes, achievements, etc.... will also add to depth because you have something to work for like in SCII where some people revisited the campaign to get some of the achievements. The MP while is only 6vs6 is fine due to the smaller maps and the crash site game mode has some teamwork in the games I've played. Maybe they'll be bigger maps, more options and some more tweaks by the time we get the game, but, either way I like what I see. My only complaint is that adding someone as a friend then sending them an invite doesn't work, since, I tried to but at least the connect to game works so you can still play together, just minor bugs to iron

I like 6v6 because I'm not a team player..
That means I can 1v6 them and still win most of the time regardless of how terrible my teammates are in either game modes.

It might not 32vs32 but 6vs6 isn't bad. I agree, I can play as a team player but I prefer more solo in some cases

The lighting is somewhat better, but a lot of it is just over-exaggerated bloom that many people don't even like.

And they are using a static skybox. Pay attention to it an you'll quickly notice that is just a static image.

You know in what situation you get a static skybox in the original Crysis ? When you set everything to Low. You just have to turn the shaders to Medium, leaving everything else in Low, and you will no longer get a static skybox.

No wonder they got it to perform well. That saves a lot of resources and the lighting is always the same. You still haven't seen daylight transitions. Let's reserve that judgment when the full game comes out.

Why are people seeking rig crushers? I guess I just don't get this part of gaming just yet and I don't see how the graphics (the little we've seen so far at DX9) isn't enough to satisfy? I personally don't care how the water glistens, if I'm actually playing the game....I'm not sight seeing. Wasn't the biggest complaint before the fact that Crysis wasn't even playable on a vast majority of rigs. People to this day still can't run it at acceptable FPS or at a level to even appreciate the detail. Maybe Crytek has took this into account?

Hows that have anything to do with getting a console port though. The original crysis was PC only and did well enough to warrant a second one. This time though they made it on consoles primarily (or so it would seem judging from the demo).

I don't see how piracy made this game into a console port, it was greed and laziness.

I actually did take a quick look at the other skyscrapers, buildings, etc.... Thing is, we are talking about MP. Any details that will lower your fps making it harder to shot, etc.... will be detrimental to gameplay. In SP, you can stand there and admire some trees or some view, but, not in MP where you constantly on the go. I never played crysis under medium, mostly stuck to VH, some high settings once I made the transition to 1080p before I bought my 570 so I can't really say I see the difference. Maybe the bloom is a little high, but, it does add to the realism(walking outside into sunlight, eyes need to adjust, etc....).
I agree, people should reserve their judgement. After playing the demo last night, I think I might preorder

Well, has you ever played crysis @ VH @ 1080p? It has some breathtaking scenes. Sometimes, I would just stand on a cliff and look below to see how it looks. Having said that, crysis MP was always easier to run from what I've seen even on my previous 8800GTS 512 gpu so I don't see why some are complaining about the demo since its MP to MP comparisons and not SP to MP. I do have to admit that I liked it when my HD3850 struggled to play crysis Then once I made the transition to my 8800GTS 512, I was able to play it VH @1024 which made it that much more enjoyable.
