Not only that PC has been focused on the major titles for years now where as consoles will release crapg game after crap game and hope that one of them will stick. Remember how seemingly never ending list of PS2 games?
Yeah, you have a point there. The PC may have a lack of a quantity of games, but at least 70 percent of them aren't gaping holes in which you throw money.

Ying and yang, quantity vs. quality.

I bet that site posted that up just to get hits.

Probably. Whether it is or isnt, I dont want it to because some retail games here in the UK are really cheap compared to the online versions. For example the Collectors Edition of DoW2 Retribution is £25 but the regular version from Steam is £30 - And retail uses Steamworks so its almost the same but you get more (extra DLC you'd normally have to pay for). Any game thats on Steam i generally buy retail because its cheaper.

key word "retail" yes downloads are taking their place.

My problem is we just don't get real pc games anymore. They are some quick console port without the depth of a real pc games. Whats really telling is to just look at flight sims, always the mainstay of PC gaming. There are only like 3 or 4 decent, new, real flight sims now. ROF, the DC stuff, and the new game by maddox, (which we haven't really seen yet, but he brought us IL2, which was one of the greatest, so there is hope his new one should be epic too).

CinemaBlend must be tapping interns to write their articles now. Anyone with half a business degree could tell you the retail market for software everywhere is dying. In an age of digital distribution and almost every computer using commercial software being connected to the internet, there's no reason for the market NOT to leave the retail world. They don't have to buy shelf space, they don't have to make complicated distribution arrangements, and it cuts out an insane amount of operating expenses and overhead.

TL;DR: Obvious statement is obvious.

Those guys need to go at the nearest Microplay shop from my house, they are specialized in PC games and there is around 100 of them on the walls vs around 60 console games in total. And I don't see digital taking the full place of retail: a lot of people, including me, don't have the top internet and rather purchase a boxed version than a digital one. 10Gb games download on 256k? No thanks, I will stay old fashioned.

What kind of a dumb peasant would still buy physical copies in an age of digital distribution? Oh wait ...
