Video Editing Software

Thread Starter
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but I'm going to give it a shot.

Does anyone have any suggestions for video editing software?

If you could tell me what you think the best video editing software out is, that would be nice.

And also which CHEAP video editing software you think is best.

AND which FREE video editing software you think is best (if any...).

Thanks.

yea OS is important. as far as free... imovie or windows movie maker.

the cheapest that is good is vegas

the best out there right now that most professionals use is either final cut or premier depending on OS. both are pretty similar

and then there is AVID which is widely used but slowly losing popularity to premier and final cut

Sorry, forgot about that. Windows mostly, maybe Linux too if you know of any.

I was looking into Sony Vegas. Do you mean the "Sony Vegas Pro" that is like $500? Or the one that is under $100? Can you give me a link to one to buy please?

Also, I've been using Windows Movie Maker. I'm really unsatisfied. Every time I upload footage, then post it to YouTube, it's really bad quality. Does this have to do with Windows Movie Maker or the fact that I'm capturing footage to my PC via fire wire? Is there a better way to get footage onto my computer rather than fire wire?

Thanks!

firewire is perfectly fine the only other method is a tape deck which is expensive and not worth it for what you are doing.

the sony vegas that is under $100 would be fine.

windows movie maker has bad compression and doesnt render very well thats why the quality is bad. i have used a GL2 before and the quality of the video is pretty good for the price

Alright cool, thanks man!

Where do you suggest I get the Sony Vegas from, if you prefer a certain place?

I looked on Newegg and there are a few for under $100. Which should I get?

If you're willing to go with Linux, I'd recommend Kdenlive, it's free, and easy to learn.
