Did Anyone Buy Faulty P67 From Provantage?

Hi:

I have written to Provantage twice since the motherboard recall and have not heard back from them. I'm wondering if anyone else has heard what their policy will be for exchanging motherboards. I have a feeling we may have to go through Gigabyte to return or exchange our motherboards.

Did you actually have a problem with the board? I didn't know they issued a re-call... (yes I know about the chipset issues).

I have been hearing that several companies are not RMA'ing any sandy bridge based boards unless you can prove it failed.

Thanks for the info, airbozo.

It's difficult to say if there have been problems. There are no problems that I could prove but I don't like having to avoid using the SATA2 ports in case a problem arises which is what Gigabyte wants us to do.

This is how Gigabyte is dealing with the return. I just tried the provided link and I receive an error when trying to submit my information. I will try again later.

I bought my GB board from provantage, have not received anything from them, but when the new boards come out I will be going for the RMA also

Thanks for the links. The only reason I am watching this issue is because my company has several of the sandy bridge systems out in the field and a few of my customers sent their systems back to us without calling or asking for an RMA so the shipment was refused. I got a couple of nasty calls to the effect of it is our fault if they lose data.. some peoples kids... lol!


We are doing damage control over this NON-issue. I say non issue because no-one I know of has seen these errors or experienced any problems. One of the customers that tried to return their system is not even using the on board controller. they are using an Adaptec 5508Z raid controller so we keep trying to tell them they will not have any issues.

Well by the time the new motherboards come out you will not be able to go through the place of purchase as most places have a max return time of 30 days. 'm currently on the line with ASUS to see if they'll replace my mobo which failed the other day.

Yes that is true about the 30 days but companies like Newegg are extending it so that customers can return the motherboard when the new ones are ready. I would like to buy a new one, install it, and then return the old. I need my computer so I can't return it and then wait for my new one. It looks as though Gigabyte will have some sort of advanced replacement option. This is what I will probably do.

"Advanced replacement is available upon request. A valid credit card will have to be charged prior to the new replacement shipment. A full refund will be credited back to your account after the appointed motherboard is received."

Yeah I'm having to standard RMA my mobo right now due to no POST issues. ASUS is homosmexual and is making me pay shipping. AND they are either repairing or replacing the current + there is no guarantee the one they send me will have the SATA issue fixed.
I need my PC too...
Anyways is Provantage not offering to extend their returns? I know you said they were not responding to you but...

I got my board from Provantage and they have not replied to any of my inquiries.

I will go through Gigabyte for my return. Will not purchase anything from Provantage again in the future.

I am really surprised with Provantage. It was the first time I tried them because Newegg did not have the boards in stock yet. I thought the service and prices were really good and I have ordered several other things from them since. But yea their service otherwise is not good. They should be replying in a timely manner even if they don't have a policy for the faulty P67 returns. But they should have a policy too. Maybe they will surprise us shortly but I am not holding my breath. I sent them Newegg's letter and was hoping they would do something similar.
