Did Anyone Buy Faulty P67 From Provantage? - Page 2

I will be contacting Provantage via phone tomorrow, as they have the B3's in stock. If they do not honor the RMA I will contact GB directly and will never do business with Provantage again.

@airbozo It shouldn't matter, this was a general recall, defective or not now it is unknown if or when the issue would present itself. It was stated after approx 3 years of use and not all boards would show with the problem. It's not that huge of an issue if the user is using nothing but SATA III ports, but if the user has to use SATA II ports then the issue is present. Intel set aside funds for the general recall so every vendor should honor this.

EDIT*
Straight from Provantage website.
Manufacturer's Warranty

Products marked "Manufacturer's Warranty" may be returned within 30 days of the invoice date only with the prior approval by the manufacturer. In this case, the product manufacturer requires that the consumer (or "end-user") contact them directly with any returns requests. Returns for refund or exchange through Provantage require a manufacturer case number or reference number that will allow Provantage to process the return request through its distribution source.

So it appears we have to contact the respective mobo vendor.

I called and spoke with Provantage Customer Service this morning about 1.5 hrs ago, I spoke with Tammy there. All they will do is refund the original board, which then requires us to dish out more money for a new board. They will not replace my current GA-P67A-UD5 for a GA-P67A-UD5-B3.

The interesting thing is they are different prices now. At this moment the new baoard is going for $246.23 http://www.provantage.com/gigabyte-t...3~7GIGB0AR.htm Where as my old board I paid $252.16.

Tammy also stated once they receive my old board it will take roughly 10 days for my refund.

I am very tempted to pick up the new UD7. Does anyone have the price for the old ones? The new ones are listing for $309.86.

Thanks for reporting back. Did you buy your board over 30 days ago? Do you know if they will accept any defective P67 board after 30 days or for how long. I guess I will call them too. For me, I need to find the time to rebuild so I will need to buy the new board first and then once I am set up return the old for a refund. I may be able to do this with Gigabyte but it might be easier with Provantage if they allow it. I bought mine almost 2 months ago. I also noticed the UD7 is cheaper than what I paid. Maybe this helps compensate us for time and thermal grease
