Can I overclock/unlock Pipelines for my PNY Verto 6200 AGP 128MB DDR2 Gfx card? - Page 2

Should work the same for AGP. Download RivaTuner and check this link:
http://www.madshrimps.be/articles/article/310/1#axzz1FOP3Tr7O

And by the way, no hate. It's just impossible for you to run those games on anything but maybe 640x480 resolution. Regardless, good luck with this.

Well
I realize the card obviously sucks so what utilities should I use to check before I flash it?

I read about people having incorrect (newer) versions of the core, and end up having 2 instead of 4 pixel pipelines which limits the capabilities
...
in my personal thoughts I feel fine running this card, I have ran less with laptop and mobility GPU's so I feel the dedicated 128mb ddr2 ram and agp bus would make more performance instead of an integrated southbridge/northbridge communicating through mcp, and another gpu... I feel that the hardware I have is sufficient, and for you to not think the same, is more or less your ability to have a better system.

I ran Call of Duty Modern Warfare on my old laptop, yeah I will admit, the resolution wasn't at the max, but the graphics detail and effects were to the minimal, but the minimal settings atleast let me play the game fluently enough to be able to play it.

My laptop is not working the hard drive crashed, and the lcd is messed due to a mishap, so I just am attempting another means of being able to do what I want to do.

for all you HD lovers out there, I wont be running my games at 720P or 1080, I will be setting them to something at 800x600 or 1024x768... which all adapt to my tv well, without 'invalid signal'.

So if anyone out there has modded their 6200's to a 6600 and can give me any details of any information on the card and numbers on the gpu itsself, I would greatly appreciate it.

I would hate to be another fooled candidate who flashes their rom to only realize that 2 of 8 pixel pipelines exist afterwards opposed to what 4 pixel pipelines I currently have.

gpu-z should be the most informative ultility about gpu.
next to that is nvidia inspector.
download one or both of those and try them out.
to flash i believe u need nibitor

Hey never realized GPU-z existed, I will try that once am able to get a working HDD in this machine, once its up and running, I will try the GPU-z first then nvidia inspector

Do you know if any of the following will let me determine if my cards capable of having more pixel pipelines (from 4 it currently has to 8) which requires a software mod (im assuming a flash of the rom of the gfx) but not sure someoen said rivatuner will do this? anyone know for sure?

thanks for your input you have been helpful to the most

the BEST way to determine if your GPU is unlockable is to look at the text written on the IHS or the silicon itself when you take the heatsink off.
if the revision (A_) and the chip number/name is the same as the confirmed flashable ones, then yours might be able to do a successful flash. if it isn't, you won't be able to.

for example some GTX 465 has GF100-375-A1 on them were flashable to GTX 470. but the ones that have GF100-300-A2 (not sure this is just for example purpose) those are not flashable.

and yes to unlock the card you will have to flash it to a completely card which means replacing the BIOS and entire ROM on the card.
literally transforming ur card into another one

i cant help you unlock your gpu,i did have the same one but it overheated and died...
but you have other splutions available.
reformat/use your pc hd in a caddy/buy a big usb stick/put a new new hd in your lappy and hook it up to the monitor you would have had your 62/6600 into.

i undestand that your wanting to get as much mileage out of your computer that you can,

most people do the same but i think this is the most difficult way to do so?
and for what real gains, surely it will be a couple of fps max,the same as adding more RAM possibly

Hey I checked that link out, good information. I am wondering if I get to the 'custom graphics processor configuration' area if I should be able to view current bitmask before enabling the changes? Will the testing automatically determine this?

thanks again good info.

When the heatsink was off I saw N43 and bunch of numbers like you said, I could ID n43 and an A1 which I suppose on the GPU IC itsself would say it is one that is capable of receiveing a flash... The only thing I am worried/paranoid about is the fact that theres a V5.44.A2.xx.xx sticker that I talked about in previous posts (the cards not in front of my face now I am downstairs on yet another laptop..one that is getting sent in for a complete replacement shorty due to NVIDIA 6150 geforce xpress recall on HP Pavilion notebook computers)... but I don't know whether to trust the n43 (because wiki lists it as a NV43 before it was NV44...) or whether or not my gfx card is a NV44A2 (hence the V5.44.A2.xx.xx sticker....) so thats my only stopping point.

I am a Computer Engineering Technology grad I understand how to flash a rom and that it would change my gfx instruction set to a brand new gfx card.

Just dont want to make the mistake of flashing the wrong card instructions or that would ruin my card.(from other forum's see people making 4 pixel pipelines ==2 pixel pipelines, nice downgrade) i don't want to downgrade the performance, if I can use everest or something to better ID it maybe... then I can determin, like the GPU-Z has which is detailed information of codename and all that, nanometers of the transistor set and all of that, which is awesome information seeing that it is never provided with stock programs and options from any vendor's of PC/Laptop's..
