They are trying to find out the issue with why the shaders aren't unlocking for everybody most likely. Even then, we don't know if people aren't doing it properly such as using the switch, updating/reinstalling drivers, using latest GPU-Z.

Yuck. Makes me glad I hopped on the reference card despite everyone telling me to wait for the PCS++

Reference cooling does the job, but it's far from great. The fan is wicked loud at anything 45%+.

This is supposed to be guaranteed unlock, that's the whole point.

You get an aftermarket cooler and a 6970. Even at the current price, it's quite the steal.

Wow, I'm really surprised by the responses to the posts on Newegg. That's customer service right there!

If ppl were doing it wrong, why'd they pull the product if it weren't defective????

The excuse that ppl were doing it wrong is a distraction from the real problem. I also find it damming that these ppl went thru with techsupport and weren't able to unlock their cards.

Yeah but I've heard people having it unlocked, so it could go either way. Defective or people just not doing something right. Obviously they'd pull the product if they got a lot of complaints, since they'd have to test all of the ones in stock to be 100% sure that they are all defective or people are doing it wrong.

You flip the switch and reboot, system auto installs new driver. GPUZ reads hardware shows shaders. Besides that, what the hell you take people for cretons who couldn't possibly click uninstall reboot, then install again?

No, but I take that some people might have not done something correctly.

Ive been in contact with powercolor about this issue and it was a bad batch... They are replacing anyone that has a defective one with a 6970 ref. I unfortunatly canceled one of my orders becasue saw people were having issues... Otherwise I would have a 6970 xfire right now for the price of 289x2
