850w PSU strong enough for 6970 CF setup

Thread Starter
Here's my projected build:

850w XFX Black edition PSU
2 x 6970 CF stock
ASUS maximus extreme IV
SB i7 2600K OC @ 4.5-5GHZ
Noctua NH-D14
2 x 4GB DDR3 RAM
1 SSD
1 Sata HDD
Audiophile 24/96 Soundcard
HAF X case

With an overclocked CPU and an aftermarket HSF, would the 850w XFX power supply be able to handle this setup? I've tried PSU calculators and searched for threads pertaining to my question but I don't think I got a good answer for this type of build. I don't plan to overclock the 6970s. Here's a link to the PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ords%29&Page=1

should be fine if you don't plan on overclocking

XFX 850 is plenty. You would be fine with a 750 watt psu.

You will be more than good. Check my sig rig out.. I am running a HX 850... and with a kill a watt meter.. I pull max 520watts

I would suggest the Corsair over the XFX one you listed though.. at least in my research when I recently upgraded for Xfire.. I found the XFX to be lacking in connections.

Easily enough, a 650W would do the job fine.

Should be absolutely fine, multiple graphics cards don't need additively more watts to power due to alternate frame rendering and other concessions. IN other words two 300W cards will very unlikely need 600W of power in any kind of real world or synthetic benchmark.
