Side by Side comparison: Crysis 2 vs Crysis 1 *FIXED IMAGES* - Page 11

A fair comparison would be Crysis Wars, also you're comparing a modded very high config to Crysis 2's high config.

EDIT: I can't believe people here are even taking this comparison into consideration, it's obviously biased lol, how blind are some of you? Have you not played Crysis Wars?

My opinion without knowing = the one with the "flat" interface looks best.

The one with the "rounded" interface just looks washed and plastic-y (aka looks like textures and not actual scenery)
You like Crysis 1 more.

Crysis wars looks substantially better than this demo. In my evaluation, the problems of primary concern are texture resolution & anti-aliasing. Now hearing the release edition will only be DX9 makes me want to cancel my pre-order.

In all fairness, the game is not yet released.

However, not a SINGLE piece of content has been shown, be it a screenshot or a video of Crysis 2 being graphically superior or equivalent to Crysis. Before Crysis's release, we saw a TON of jaw-dropping videos, screenshots and so on. The game is 20 days away from release and we haven't even seen one DirectX 11 screenshot. Not a single one.

Compare Crysis Wars on DirectX 9, high settings to the Crysis 2 demo. It looks much better, there's no doubt about it. Not only that, but in my personal opinion the multiplayer is much worse, the maps are small and there are barely any suit options. Armor and cloak. Really? And sprinting drains my suit energy? You don't go that fast when sprinting so I know that isn't speed mode.

And when you look at the screenshots of the leaked beta, the same is true, it's just not as pretty as the original and according to everyone I've spoke to who's played the leaked SP game, it's incredibly linear.

Now again, the game isn't finished, but I HIGHLY doubt that the SP has changed dramatically from that. The original games' SP was fantastic. It was open and beautiful. If I want to play an urban, linear shooter I have many options. Crysis was different, it was unique and kept me coming back for more. Playing the same maps over and over again was fun because I wasn't playing them the same way. I just don't think this consolized sequel will match up with that, so I'm going to wait for the reviews before purchasing. Which, after playing the first game for the first time I would've never dreamed the sequel would seem this bad.

Now that I've read the entire thread and seen all the pictures and know which is which, my thoughts. Wait for the actual SPlayer release to make a decision if you're on the fence, it won't take long for it to get posted.

Seeing as I've never played either, I'd buy the first and use the mods. It is unfair that the MPlayer demo is being used for comparison, however I don't find it unfair to use the mod packs on the first. On a enthusiast forum I EXPECT everyone to use mods like that.

Not that it matters though because I will _never_ buy the game or play it because it uses securom AND activation limits.
AMD, I give up.

A better comparison would have been, Crysis Wars and Crysis 2 MP.

Mods/DX10 vs DX9. I know you disclosed this but it doesn't excuse your inaccurate comparison.

This. A hundred times This. Thus far we have seen nothing that shows they have invested anything into making the PC version look great. The leaked game was DX9 and now rumors are the PC version will only be a DX 9 port on release day with a patch sometime in the future.
