q9300 temp and overclocking

Thread Starter
I recently bought a q9300 2.5ghz,

All of it core temp going 48-52 C at idle and 50-65 at load ,

I have an aus p5kpl am/ps , with g31 chipset
I tried to use the jumperfree setting in BIOS to 5% overclocking , which used to overclock my old pentium(2.93) to near 3.2 but when i did the same to the quad , it went to be underclokced at 2.1ghz.
But still i see performance increase in startup , can someone help..

Make sure you're using the latest bios for your board. I know there was plenty of bios updates to support 45nm CPU's. Also make sure to turn off EIST and C1/C2/C3 etc... states. Make sure you choose your multiplier and set it to 7.5. Not sure if your bios throws the multipliers to auto.

We have the same mobo smile.gif, It has very limited options..

411FSB is the max you can run so 411X7.5=3082mhz..

Take it off Auto and do it Manually.

My old pentium was also getting overheated, and this one too.

i tried to manual overclock, and the mobo shows capability of 600mhz.
I kept it at 400mhz.
Now the clock multiplier is dynamically changing from 6.5-7.5 with time.
