Thread Starter
Well I haven't built a computer since 2003 lol! And well finally my computer went so I decided I needed a new one
Specs:
Western digital caviar black 750GB 6.0GB/s 64mb cache
AMD Phenom II x4 965 black edition 3.4
Asus M4A88TD-V evo
Thermaltake TR2 500w
Thermaltake v3 black edition case
G.skill 4x2 GB ddr3 1333

I don't really play games exp a fps that is low graphics kinda and for that I have my old 8800 gt evga 512mb I may just use the onboard. So I never overclocked and wanna do alittle . I also have 4 more 120mm blue led fans coming in.

Did you order an after market CPU cooler? You will want one if you do any overclocking as the stock fans are not made for that.

Ordered yet?
Might want to consider swapping CPU for cheaper 955 (955 vs 965 = no difference, otherwise get a 1055T it's only $10 more than 965)
And swap the generic 1333 memory, likely one out there that's better priced (unless you got a CL7 timing one)

Agreed. These two kits are highly recommended:

As xd_1771 stated go with the 955 BE as opposed to the 965. The price difference is not worth the 200mhz difference.

The cooler master v8 won't fit in that case. I myself have the v3 and looked at the v8 cooler as well. The height limit in the v3 is 160mm and the v8 measure 161.29mm.

Instead I went with the cooler master Hyper N520. It fits in the case very nicely with enough clearance from the side panel window for nice presentation. My 955 BE also runs at 24-27C idle and stays in the 44-46C under 100% load depending on ambient temperature. So I would suggest that. Be aware of the cable management in the case as well though. Its not that great. The only place you can really hide the wires is behind the hard drive bay.

Another thing. The top exhaust fans will NOT fit properly. They won't clear the RAM. I have that mobo as well. And the placement of the memory slots at the very top doesn't allow the top front exhaust fan to fit the way thermaltake "meant" it to fit. You will have to offset it a little to the left of the original mounting holes and only use 2 screws.

check out my build log and take a look at how everything came together. Shoot me a pm if you have any questions too...im more than willing to try and answer any questions you might have!
