What's the issue here?

Thread Starter
I have an old CRT I would like to use to game with (150hz) and I plugged it into my 5870 with a dvi to vga cable, but the monitor is not receiving any signal. The monitor is detected in my display properties and the OS thinks that it is working fine. The only problem is, the monitor is not getting any signal and doesn't get any signal even while booting. I have tried safe mode, but no signal even comes to it while booting from BIOS / etc. Is the problem my DVI-VGA adapter?

ALSO:

The monitor isn't faulty. Still works in other system and gets detected here.
My video card isn't faulty.

EDIT: Aren't DVI-i output ports of my 5870 compatible with the analog input of my CRT?

I haven't experienced this before nor have I ever seen it, but I would replace that adapter. :/ It's the only thing that I can think of.

Ah.. Seriously lost here... Adapter works fine. Video card works fine. Cable works fine. Monitor works fine. OS detects monitor and thinks it's working, but it isn't, even on lowest settings possible. Monitor doesn't say "no input source", but the light just blinks orange and I cannot do anything.

*Monitor doesn't even work if it's the only one plugged in, yes I reinstalled drivers and even removed them. Same result. Help please...*

Is it an Eyefinity 6 card? I couldn't get my old CRT to work with mine so it's probably hit and miss with old monitors, its also hard to works properly with just any HDMI cable, almost always will need a DVI-HDMI.

I am not using HDMI, I am using a dvi to vga. Also, my card is just 3 way eyefinity, not 6x.

Any other ideas / suggestions? Are some monitors just incompatible with some video cards fr absolutely no good reason?
