Same thing here it does not happen a lot of times but I got crashes usually after 15 min when I lunch it for second time I can play for hours. Freezes happened but really rare. There was also a stop/ action lag but that's ok any way guys that a demo and I'm sure it will be fine until they release a full game btw I run drivers that are not on official nvidia website but because the issue is ai rare and all my other games run just fine I dint care

Ok this time was fine 2h of game play without any issues what so ever. Sometimes I think that crashes may be because of some automatic unwanted background system update or maybe their servers are over loaded you newer know it's a hot game an when it's free people are crazy about it.

I don't overclock, and pretty much the only reason I'm posting here is because Crysis2 doesn't seem to want to play nice with my system. My pc will freeze at some purple screen that has nothing to do with anything. I wish it would give a bsod at least that way there would be some kind of reference to it in the event viewer. I have a 280gtx main and a 8800gtx for physix. My os is Vista Ultimate 64 bit w/6GB of ram. I have a e8400 which runs @ 3GHz stock, in the past I've oc'd it to 4 but it's running at stock speed now. btw, Drobomb way to push the envelope!

I've updated Directx and I've downloaded the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package for both (x86) & (x64). Still it persists. It's quite frustrating. I haven't felt this frustrated since the release of Patch 1.3 for Battlefield 2.

I'll be trolling the forums looking for someone smarter than myself who will solve this problem. Could one of you be that person?...please

Darkne55

Oh, I have since posting this discovered that sometimes, not everytime, but sometimes when the pc locks up like this the small square that is visible (which represents the mouse cursor) can actually still be moved around by the mouse. Everything else is frozen, the seconds on the clock of my G15 are frozen, yet that happens.

Not looking good, google GTX280 pink/purple screen.

Try using the 88 as the primary card and see if it persists.

Anything at this point is worth a shot. I formatted a hard drive and reinstalled my OS last night/this morning. You can imagine my elation to be able to game once again. You can also imagine how devastated I was when it reappeared. Along with the beautifully colored screen there has been a repeating sound, as if it were stuck in a loop. I disabled my X-FI extreme gamer fatality series card and went with the onboard sound of my 680i motherboard. Creative doesn't have the best track record when it comes to drivers. Then again neither does Nvidia.

I swear if ATI cards didn't hate me I'd leave Nvidia.

Well from reading my own posts it's quite clear now what the problem is/was. When in the process of following grunion's advice, I couldn't help but notice that both my graphics cards were sporting some trendy dust sweaters. I'm actually embarrassed that I allowed them to get so dirty. Hopefully I caught it in time so that no permanent damage was done. If not then it's my own fault and I just learned yet another expensive lesson.
Thanks for something else too grunion. Had I not been following your advice, I don't know when I would've discovered that BFG Tech went bankrupt in the middle of 2010. "Lifetime Warranty" must mean the lifetime of the company...

Thanks to you all! Especially you grunion.

Peace
