Because it was the only steelseries optical sensor mouse that was decent, and used 400 DPI as a selectable CPI. The Xai requires like multiples of 90 CPI for your selection, anything in between doesnt really change.

kinzu's f0rest is configured with :

400/400 dpi, 6win , 3.5 ingame mouseaccel : off , 500hz

f0rest used ~11 inches per 360 on a kinzu for a LONG time, he still might use it. I think dsn might have used one for a little while as well.

Being good at aiming is all about consistency, which is what acceleration screws up.
SEE AT 0:50, f0rest w/ Kinzu. Lifts his KINZU and you see the red light from the optical sensor. You can call it just a promotional video, but its well known that he uses a Kinzu. I guess you can you a mouse like that and still be one of the top 5 CS players of the past decade.

And no side buttons...

Makes perfect sense to me why f0rest chose a kinzu when he was on steelseries sponsored fnatic. Most old school players would want a mouse that actually would run on 400DPI like older ms1.1/3.0 mice. Plus the xai + cloth = bad tracking.

And their are/were indeed some cs pros from europe that played with accel on. These days the game community is much different though, so the odds of finding someone commited enough to the game that ignored the obvious "recommended cs 1.6 config settings" is really rare. Back in like 2002 though it wasn't too rare to see a player using mouse accel at a high competitive level. Im sure it wasn't really the best idea, but some people did it.

Same thing with 2 noforce (europe) vs 3 noforce (usa), they did the same thing, but people copy everyone else around them. As pros said mouse accel = bad everyone followed suit, but their were people that played before that that learned the game w/ it on.

Nope. The Ikari optical has the same perfectly working ADNS-3060 sensor that's in your EC2, but it seems they were either lazy and didn't know much about mice when they approached the sensor.

400-800 mode= loads 3060 srom
400-1600 mode= loads 3080 srom
800-1600 mode= loads both 3600/3080 srom = reason for 300m/s lag.

Like M$ with Agilent/Avago, they're only using that STMelectronics sensor because of cost. Although, M$ got lucky with MLT 04 being a technically faulty hit as I view it. LOL

Just go on hltv.org, the world biggest website about CS, search some photos...and you'll find a lot with f0rest using a kinzu, get_right too. Even with sponsors, I don't think that a pro-player would use a bad mouse.

I would use anything if a sponsor was willing to pay up...

Yeah, but you won't play as good as the sponsors want you to with a bad mouse

The Kinzu is a horrible mouse. No clue why those two guys would use it. Acceleration is all over the place.

Also, dpi argument doesn't make any sense. You can get the same sensitivity by varying your ingame sense vs dpi.
