Gameplay make a game, not graphics. Crysis 2 looks better than most games you end up playing on a regular basis. I don't see why people are whining over something so ridiculous.

Crysis 1, IMO was BORING. This time around they focused less on the graphics and more on the game itself.

I actually quite liked Crysis 1. Not all of it. The beginning was a bit slow, but then every game has a tutorial. The physics, the graphics and the "sandboxiness" were what made the game stand out. I'd be happy if they just pushed physics along and left the graphics at the level that they were, but unless the do something completely different in single player, I think I might actually prefer Crysis 1.

I think it'll be alright. Main reason people don't like it is due to the new post-apocalyptic Escape From New York setting (me too) as much as the tropical FarCry setting of Crysis 1. Providing they still let you fight near plenty of vegetation, I think it'll be OK.

Maximum Consolitis

I'm siding with the 'Cevat sold out to the consoles' side. The first game wasn't much without the impressive graphics.

I just played about 45 minutes of the C2 demo and I really hope they final release looks better.

I can't stand MP demos for 1, are they trying to compete with COD? Why waste your time? Seems like all multiplayer modes are copies of either COD or L4D.

And 2, from the moment you start the demo it has "console" written all over it. The first screen you get to says push "start". Now I don't know about your keybaord, but I don't have a "start" button. My PS3 controller does though.

And when you get into the graphics settings?...where are the AA and AF controls? Where are all the other detail controls? I've seen console ports with more control over the graphic settings than this. *cough* Lost Planet

Now I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they stuck to the bare essentials for the purposes of a demo. I really really hope that is true.

But I don't fall into the delusion that Crytek might have sacrificed graphics for gameplay. I'm sure they could have put just as much effort into both aspects. To me it appears as though they have gone the route most developers have and moved away from PC probably due to piracy and profits and more towards console where the real money is. I don't blame them, it's just an unfortunate part of the business.

And while graphics have never made or broken a game, they do make it more enjoyable. I still boot up C1 to test out a new vid card and just to get my kicks launching rockets and watching palm trees sway from the explosion. And besides we spend how much ridiculous amounts of money on our systems, I'd like to see more games that make my system sweat.

end of rant

I think the visuals will rock. The lighting is to die for, and the textures are alright for their respective values. Remember there may be a hidden graphics setting that requires DirectX10 at least like Crysis1 so it can get even better! Thing that I am highly disappointed about is the water quality, as it looks like crap...

I think the demo is terrible from a technical standpoint.
Overt bloom and blur to cover up shoddy textures and lack of physics.
And the DX11 patch down the road MIGHT make a difference in graphics, but I doubt it will make up for the loss of sandbox play and the dumbing down of the nanosuit that were implemented due to consolitis.

I'm gonna disagree about the lighting and agree with Nixuz. They have covered up a lack of realism with overdone post processing effects. Reminds me of Killzone 2 for the PS3. Everyone drooled over the graphics but really all it was was overdone, unrealistic lighting effects that look cool, but are far from what is seen in the real world. And I personally believe "awesome" graphics are those that are closest to reality. C1 came very closer than any game to date.

Crysis 1 single player graphics blew my mind. However, the single player campaign lasts a couple weeks before the interest is lost.

Multiplayer is where the fun is at. I've been playing Crysis MP about every other day now for the past three years - I can't get enough. The combination of aircraft, tanks, vehicles, infantry combat, 30-40+ players, factories, bunkers, prototype factory - turns me on.

The COD style Crysis 2 is VERY disappointing. Limited players, no vehicles, no large maps. I doubt I'll even buy the game. EA and Crytec dropped the ball on this one. I realize more money was to be made by moving the game to console and PC, but I wish they'd made a PC-only MP version similar to Crysis 1, even if it was an add-on. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
