my only concern with the playbook is that their app world is horrid and very lacking.

Didn't they have a thing where if you developed an app for the playbook and it was released in the appworld you would get a free playbook?

Certainly that would push individuals to make apps

And Apple has a bunch of apps in their app store - but guaranteed that most of what you might want will be "banned" by Apple for some hidden reason...

Actually Apple's main + is the amount of applications it has. The only thing coming close to them is Android store. I switched to an HD7 from an iphone 3gs and although spec wise i love my phone I can't but help in missing the huge amounts of apps!

I think the war will really start in 2012 after android and other non iOS tablets app markets mature.

That is exactly why I sold my bold 9700, 6 months after release and there was nothing new.

It really depends on what the price point the Playbook comes in at and how many people will prefer the smaller screen. Right now I like the Xoom as a higher end tablet with 4G connectivity. If I wanted something with just Wifi and didn't need that much storage the base model iPad 2 would do just fine at a cheaper price. Frankly, I don't understand the wasted energy people use to hate a product they don't already own and don't have to own. I can understand if you don't like a product but that doesn't instantly = hate.
