Another First Mechanical KB thread :(

Thread Starter
So I'm looking to try out a mechanical keyboard, but I don't want to invest too much in it. I have narrowed my choices down to:

ACK-6600C

Adesso MKB-135B

Razer BlackWidow

I can get each of them for around the price of $65.

Do you guys have any (other) recommendations?

Could try a cherry mx g80- any one on ebay. I got outbidded on earlier for $35 shipped.

A ok board would be the Dell at101w, uses black alps, but they are a good beginning board. Other beginners would be Model M's. Both stiffer than cherrys.

If you got the cash i would choose the adesso, i heard the board is pretty high quality. Razar would be the the nicer keyboard for gamers. I havent heard of the other brand.

I've never heard of the ACK-6600C. But anyway, for guaranteed quality, wait for the Rosewill RK-9000s to return to Newegg (or ChiefValue). geekhack says that they're often sold at heavy discounts so that should bring the price down closer to your price range.

+1 to this. I paid $90 for mine but I've heard of it going for $75. A really, really nice keyboard; don't let the brand name fool you.

Well, the ACK-6600c was in the overclock.net guide. Apparently it's the same as the Steelseries 7g?

Lol - the 6600?

I'd correct that but am not allowed to talk about the OP in the OCN Mechanical Keyboard Guide thread. My posts keep getting deleted.

Oh those things are trash to type on. You don't want your first mechanical board to be one of those. It'll turn you off. If you've got a local computer store that carries a Black Widow or a 7G, you should go and type on the ones that are on display.
