hey guys,

i got a dell perc 5/e card for $60 on ebay. but it doesnt have any ram.

was wondering, will any ecc ram work on it?

ddr2 533 eec ram for example? was hoping to get a 1gb stick, pretty hard to find 256 or 512mb.

I have absolutely no clue. It all depends if the sticks will fit for one, and if dell used normal ram to start with. If they used regular ECC ram from the factory then I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I would give dell a call and see what they say. Can't hurt to ask them.

Simple answer is: no.

The PERCs have very specific RAM requirements. Can't remember off the top of my head, but the details have been listed a few times in the PERC sticky thread - your best bet would be a search over there.

And the max is 512MB - no 1GB sticks I'm afraid...
