CPU cooler recommendation

Thread Starter
We have the following configuration:

MOBO ASUS P5KC Socket 775
CPU E8400 E0

I want to purchase a cooler for overclock,I want to go up to 4.5 GHz CPU.
I need something good for air cooled

Can you recommend some good coolers

This is good:

2. http://www.pcgarage.ro/coolere/scythe/ninja-3/
3. http://www.emag.ro/coolere_procesor/...B10-212P-GP%29

Waiting for your opinions

Well 4.5 GHZ might be difficult on air.

I would get the third option: http://www.emag.ro/coolere_procesor/...B10-212P-GP%29

It should get you to at least 4.0-4.5.

i would suggest a noctua heatsink and fans and make sure you have good to excellent case ventillation...

I have a noctua NH-12U-P SE but you might wanna go for the NH-D14

They run in push pull airflow configuration and can be orientated in either direction (so the air flows either up/down or front/back)

I pushed my 6500 to 3.7gigs from stock just with this heatsink and fan while also reducing my system 20C in temp from the stock speed with stock fan...

My system was running between mid and high 70's under mild load at 3.2G before changing over the case - for better airflow (which made approx a 6C difference with the stock items), adding this heatsink reduced it to where it is running now at 36C idle and gets no hotter than 58C or so under a 10 hour max heat prime test with an ambient temp of 28C - 30C

So to go to the extra heat of 4 - 4.5G i would expect you should yield similar results from the noctua NH-D14

here is a review...

Did you had this model?
http://www.emag.ro/coolere_procesor/...eezer7Prorev.2

I would go on ZEROtherm FZ120 I heard many good things about him.

It is a good choice?

well you did not mention a budget and if you ask me, the cost of the cooler is well worth it when you consider that in the future when you upgrade to a new motherboard and cpu, you can move the cooler too as it will fit 775, 1155 and 1366 pin chips

Yes they are expensive, my NH12 cost me just shy of $100 AUD and with the additonal 2 NF-12 fans I brought for the case it was over 150 AUD in total but then the cooling results speak for themselves IMHO...

anyway good luck with your search
