why does everyone have such a hard time believeing that crysis2 will be a DX11 game? It is even confirmed on the Nvidia website somewhere ...

Nvidia put 2 million dollars into crysis2, I assure you they did not do it because its a DX9 game.

Why are we even talking about DX9? Are we still in 2002? Who cares what it looks like in DX9...It should have been coded with DX11 from the beginning. Oh wait...it wasnt even coded for PC to begin with.

I know what crysis 2 will look like on max settings as i have played the beta start to finish on hardcore .. What higher setting is there going to be ? EXTREME ? dont think so my friend .

This game needs to be playable or everyone is going to complain how bad it plays .. The leak is where the game is at 1 month before release so nm is going to change , accept the facts and stop trying to make everyone think the game is going to change drastically because u r wrong .

dx11 wont make or break this game anyway , unless there are major changes to the game which would take a long time and crytek only have 2 weeks to "change the game " get it ready to be put on dvd and sent to stores ..

THEY HAVE NO TIME , the leak , the demo .. they are the same .. nothing is going to change .

What he is saying (not sure if true for not) is that the DX11 version is already made. Finished. Debugged. Done. But Crytek purposely removed it in order to make it more difficult to pirate the FULL game and will patch it in just after launch. As for the demo -- they just didn't spend much time on it and ported the Xbox demo directly (yes, a bad idea and defeats the purpose of the demo)

Time will tell. Less rage more wait.

What do you mean by "DX11 game"? I strongly doubt C2 will be complete DX11 (and compete therefore with Metro2033 for graphics let us say)

It might have a few bells and whistles of DX11, but I strongly doubt that Crytek would RTM a DX9 engine game and then say a week or two later "Gee, to play DX11 you have to go to the EA website and donwload this measly 20GB file...that is the completely rewritten DX11 game". This makes no monetary or rational or developmental sense.

While this is possible, it doesnt explain why the leaked beta was DX9 with no DX10 or 11 options. Add in the ported demo, you lead most people to turn up the hate and mistrust.

at the bare minimum, it’s expected that we’ll see tessellation and advanced depth of field effects a la Metro 2033.
Cool.

If you remember, in crysis1 when played in DX9 mode, very high settings were not usable. Only high or lower. Same for Crysis2 demo. In DX9 mode only high but not very high can be used.
The fact that there was no Very High settings in DX9 mode in Crysis1 has nothing to do eith DX9 itself..

It was a plan of Crytek to make users beleive that Very High is just for DX10 (Windows Vista) only..

Now you can edit config files in CVar folder to use Very High settings in DX9 with no problem at all and you would not be able to tell the difference between Very High DX9 9Via hack) and regular Very High DX10..

I actually run both Crysis and Warhead in DX9 Very High as it performs much smoother an better than it does in DX10..

Now regarding that "source" I have to say it does not look very promising at all..

CHEERS..

This is only partly true. Some of the effect could be enabled in DX9 by editing some files but only some, not all.
