So what if it looks better than any other DX9 game?

Crysis 2 looks WORSE than Crysis 1 does. It's 4 YEARS later, and the game looks WORSE. That is pathetic, and there is no excuse for that. It's very OBVIOUS that Crysis 2 is a direct console port.

Hell, it says "Press Start to Begin" at the menu. I don't know about you guys, but my keyboard doesn't have a "Start" button. My 360 controller does though, which definitely says a lot about this game.

Main reason why I'm hating on them:
They lied to us. They said that we didn't have to worry, it wouldn't be a port. It would have full DX11 features. Blah blah blah. And look what it ACTUALLY is. It's a console port, with DX9 features, that looks worse than the 4 year old predecessor.

Also, I have YET to find a way to change advanced graphics options. There's only "Gamer, Advanced, Hardcore". There is no way to set specific AA levels, no advanced shaders options, DOF...nothing.
I agree...its pathetic that they took the easy way out and gave into the console FPS genera that the Xbox started.

(This is a copy/paste of a PM I sent to someone)
I honestly never thought that the crysis series, let alone crytek would console port. I mean the original farcry was awesome. Farcry2 by ubisoft was amazing. Crysis and Warhead...yeah, awesome. To turn around and slap us in the face just because some kiddos think that FPS games should be played on the xbox, and the programmers are lazy enough to use simple coding and then patch/port it over...come on!

This just tells me the game is/will be the xbox game with a few dx11 textures band aided on.

Im very disappointed. PC gaming has taken a **** in the last many years and this is far from helping keep it alive.

I cant belive it, they would screw PC Gamers over.... Who wants some MW2 copy game? NOONE unless your like 10, not hit puberty and think gaming on your crappy TV with 1 speaker using your outdated box of $^%* is gaming..

Fine Crytek, if you wanna play like that, enjoy bankruptcy...

Street Fighter 4 had more graphics settings than Crysis 2. It was ported from the arcade.
The thing that made Crysis 1 the game it is...its the fact that the game created in '08 was far ahead of its time. Heck, it took 2 years for people to be able to afford a computer to max it out. To this day, there still are VERY few games that come close to the visuals. The story isnt bad as well. Word of mouth about that game pumped it to its status with gamers. Its sad they took 10 steps back in the PC game and ported it over. They proved they just want quick bucks and not to have an enduring game as crysis is.

Crysis 1 is a game that EVERY game was/is/and will be for a long time compared to.

Game sucks anyway. Any game with kill streaks I will never buy. Or that asks me to "press start" to enter the game. What a joke.

No it doesn't. Go look at the water, the trees, the ground. There's also NO AA at all (at least so far, and don't expect it to be added on either).

The textures look like their maybe made for 640x480 resolution (actually, probably made for 1024x768 given that that's the default resolution). Crysis 1 had full scaling of the textures. If you played at 2560x1600, that's what resolution the textures were.

Thread Starter
The only thing I could think of that may be crytek's defence is that DX11 has been implemented from the beginning for PC, but EA have forced the release date across all platforms.
They were not ready so pulled DX11 and will tweak while game is being shiped and patch on launch day or few days with DX11 glory.

On the other hand if it is a bolt on then it sucks. All DX9 games with DX11 added on look exactly same almost and just a huge fps hit.

Also comparing the multi player Crysis2 to Crysis 1 single player is not fair, as crysis multi also looked bad in comparison to SP.

But I could be completely wrong, the game is probably just a console port afterall.

But wasn't this game supposed to release about four months ago?

The game still looks really good to me, but no dx11 out of the box seems pretty crappy.

The fact that the game is a blatant port from the xbox provides enough info that they haven't done the development for PC separate.
