loud pitch sound coming from board

Thread Starter
hi there i have an Asus Sabertooth x58 mobo and just today i have started to hear a loud pitch sound coming from the board and it seems as if it comeing from the onboard ethernet port as when i start to dowload something from the web it makes this loud pitch sound however once i take out the ethernet cable the sound goes away then when i put it back in it there again the sound is. The sound is much louder when i try downloaing something i just wanted to know if this is normal and if not should i send it back for RMA

Thanks

So much for the military grade components... I don't like to bring bad news, but it's not normal, it is probably a capacitor or a coil that whines when current passes thru. While the board it may not be outright faulty, it will certainly happen sooner or later; it looks like a good reason for RMA.
