Crysis 2 MP demo on single core!

I don't freakin' believe it. This was run on my sig rig at Hardcore settings. I was expecting the framerate to be in single digits when I was downloading it.

I've also tried running at the lower Gamer settings, don't see a difference as far as visuals go, and the framerates were about the same, so I'm gonna keep running @ Hardcore settings.

Safe to say I'm pleasantly surprised with these results (people told me I wouldn't get past the loading screen haha). Makes me wonder what frames I'll get when I upgrade to an 8-core Bulldozer.

EDIT: please bear in mind when I was running the demo, my CPU was at stock clocks, as was my GPU despite what my sig says. OCing both will make a hell of a difference, especially tightening up the minimum framerates.

The game is GPU bound more than anything.
Still pretty nice.

Keep in mind that this is just a demo/beta. The graphical engine isnt final, and it is running in Directx9 mode.

I'm sure they left out some 'advanced' settings as well, I could notice that even in hardcore mode the AA isnt real nice.. edges are still very jagged. But it may be proof that they're updated engine is more efficient then the previous one.

The game is 3 weeks from release which means that they're probably producing all the discs and getting ready to ship them.

With Custom settings it will run better if anything, higher quality shadows in most games seem to get hung up on the CPU bottleneck and run quite a bit slower. Adding AA/AF settings will offload more work on the GPU and run even better.

Single player campaign will probably run at around 15-25FPS, as putting AI enemies will slow it down a lot more than single player (since that will be the real CPU test), but I'm still happy knowing I can always play it in multiplayer just fine. The first Crysis was the opposite: single player ran at about 18-28FPS at mostly high DX9 settings, but multiplayer was insanely laggy, between 9-17FPS.

I'm very tempted to put in a pre-order now...

that CPU could barely run CS:S at good speeds for me...

Mine was overclocked to 2.5ghz btw.

Are you kidding?

CS:S I can run between 80-150FPS, even with 20+ people on the map.

I'm gonna get an aftermarket cooler in a few weeks, gonna try reaching 2.8GHz at least with it. The one I'm using now is the stock one with a quieter 80mm puny fan (no heatpipes or anything) and at stock CPU voltage. It is begging for a heavy overclock
