Crysis 2 MP demo on single core! - Page 4

And my memory clock speed is tied down to the CPU clock rate. The higher the CPU overclock, the faster the memory goes, and I can't seem to change this. Putting it manually to 200MHz in the BIOS doesn't work, as it will clock it back down. The "By SPD" option seems to be the best one, since it ups the RAM speed when I overclock my CPU. Any other option keeps my RAM at about 327MHz.

Oh, that's unfortunate though. Not many boards came with 4 slots at the time. I have the same situation with my P4 system (see sig below).

If your talking about the one on geforce.com with the benchmarks, it says "near-finished build of the game". Never does it say "final" version. For all we know it could have been tested with the previous leaked version. It also doesn't say anything about DX11.

I doubt Nvidia would allow a leaked beta to be benchmarked on their site.

It's true that it says it's not a final build, but it's very intriguing all this kind of publicity Nvidia is making with their cards, and then we find out they are running DX9.

How good is that publicity ? A GTX580 can run it on hardcore at 2560x1600. Not much, really.

Gamers are going to feel cheated when they find out those benchmarks are relating to the DX9 version and not the DX11 version.

I think Nvidia also screwed this up for themselves. They shouldn't have released those benchmarks. They performa well now, but they won't perform so well with DX11.

Nope. In the BIOS it has the option to set it to 400MHz (200MHz in BIOS, since it's double rate, 400MHz effective), hell even on the motherboard it says it supports DDR400.

See?

Good thing is, though, that there's no tradeoff or loss of bandwidth from memory when OCing this chip. I almost hit 1GHz HyperTransport frequency and 396MHz on memory clock, without getting the latencies affected (on stock cooler lol), so not too shabby. I badly want to get, say a Xigmatek Dark Knight, and see if I can hit 3GHz on it, if I can, I'm gonna dance a jig (back in the day, attempting at getting your Athlon to run it that fast would be considered madness, as it's equivalent to like a 4.3GHz P4, and they ran super hot back then). Then again, that's because back in those days, they didn't know what heatpipes were, heheh, it was all alluminium.

P.S. I just badly wish that slot at the far left was a PCI-E x1 slot unfortunately it's the most useless slot since those ancient ISA slots on my SE440BX-2 Pentium III board.

I actually think it's better. Having too many slots on a motherboard that only supports single channel would've put far too much stress on the memory controller. I'm a firm believer of one DIMM per available channel, and only broke my tradition because 1GB just doesn''t cut it these days, but I understand your point of view.

I also understand your point. When I said four slots I was thinking ofdual channel also. The motherboard model above the one I have has dual channel and accepts a max of 3GB of RAM. I just didn't want to spend so much money on that one at the time I bought mine.

Yeah but unfortunately, socket 754 only has single channel RAM, socket 939 has dual channel RAM but cost alot more back then.
