I think you should read this.

Yup. People gripe about Apples App store, and that is one of the reasons many jailbreak their iPhones to be able to run "other" apps, but Apple screens their apps and while one may get through every once in a while, it is much harder to have any malware/spyware with their approval process.
Not sure what safeguards are in place for Android apps.

It is one of the reasons I will not JB my wife's iPhone, she just does not understand malware/spyware on the phone so hers will remain locked.
With me, I pay attention to what I am installing, so not really a huge issue for me.

Unix IS similar to Linux due to the fact they can both be built on to make an operating system anyway. But thats getting away from the topic, because your just picking on things.

When you download an App if you don't think "Hmm is this a safe app" you best hope your lucky.

So you sarcastically criticize that Android isn't really open because the removal of these apps and then support that the removal of these apps is necessary?

If anything consumers should be made aware of these types of apps since it's not always possible to filter out every one and to deny their existence only hurts you in the long run. This is the same as using a PC which is appropriate since these smart phones are starting to be just as capable. As these phones become more popular it would makes since people will create malicious software to take advantage of their users.

Non-issue really for responsible users. I really don't download those shady apps, only usually widgets and system software but that's about it. Most of my apps are just actually fairly typical of a rooted Android - Titanium Backup, setCPU, Barnacle Tethering, etc.

But it's nice to see that Google is taking action for these risky apps from its store. Also more impressive is that the Android community is taking the initiative and Google actually responds to these concerns.

If they aren't already doing this, Google should start screening apps submitted to their store, even if only to filter out the virus stuff and crappy, pointless, and non working stuff. They shouldn't be as strict as Apple of course, but there should be some form of screening in place, otherwise, it's just going to turn into a mess and Android wont go anywhere.

If they do screen stuff, then what the heck happened!?
