Cannot find the right mech keyboard

Thread Starter
I am in the market for a new mechanical keyboard, but I am not going to shell out $100+ dollars unless I get exactly what I am looking for. here are my requirements:

Tenkeyless, or if it has the extra numkeys, something that has a very thin border around the keys. I have limited space.

Backlit. Preferably red, but any color will do.

Cherry blues or browns, or another medium-light touch switch.

Not a Razer. I have heard too many complaints and I don't really like the look of them anyway.

EDIT: Found this Deck keyboard but it seems like my left hand will be a bit cramped since the tab, caps lock, and shift keys are a bit shorter than on a traditional keyboard.

The backlit requirement is what's screwing you.

Anyway, the deck uses black switches. I don't know of any other backlit tenkeyless boards though.

theres only 1 backlit tenkeyless board, and thats a Deck

If you really want a Tenkeyless keep an eye on elite keyboards for the leopolds or amazon for a Filco.

you may also like the Noppoo Choc mini but its pretty much unavailable atm.

I knew that would be the kicker, but it really is needed. I cannot type by feel (embarrassing, I know) and I often find myself needing it at night.

Well if you need to see the keys, why not buy a lamp?

One thing you should check out are the used Deck TG3 boards on ebay.
These units were used in police cruisers, have black cherry keys, red backlighting, fluid-protection membrane, and usually go for 20-40$. Just search ebay for TG3

edit:

seems there are no cheap ones on ebay.com at the moment, but keep looking.
You might try contacting this seller:
http://myworld.ebay.com/harlock_macross_yamato/
They were selling a large lot of the trackpad version a little while back.

And you can't tell where the keys are just by feel? How often do you look down at your keyboard when you game?

Personally, I never do.

I understand the whole backlit thing but honestly It's just an illusion, I ALWAYS look at the keyboard when I first put my hands on it, but once they are on, I don't look again until I remove my hands and place them back in.

I honestly think most people are this way and don't realize it, I'd so go without backlighting and you'll get used to it.

I game in the dark too, But I always have a small lamp on, bad for your eye's if you don't have some ambient lighting.

Also worth noting, there are some VERY small desk lamps out there that are made just for going infront of your keyboard.

Or even one of those USB lights, get a keyboard with a USB slot that's not backlit and use one of those (altho no tenkeyless usb port keyboards are out there that I know of haha, could use a USB hub tho.
