New to world of warcraft and need with which one should i get? - Page 2

To play uptodate WOW and get max levels you need all expansions and monthly charge that you have to pay to play the game. Its effin ridicilous.... Dont even bother to play it
post #12 of 18
I say you don't need any of them. WoW is a sinking ship, the recent additions are gimmicky at best. I played from launch all the way through ICC. Save yourself a bunch of wasted time.

I played at launch, saw where it was headed, and got out within weeks.
WoW is dying fast. Rift is one nail, Guild Wars 2 and SWTOR will be the final blows. Even among many WoW players it is now seen as a dead game.
If you MUST play an MMO Rift or Eve Online are far better.

And here come the haters. Look, don't let anyone tell you that you should not play, or that WoW is "Dead", because its not. Yes, right now WoW is undergoing a lot of change in game with the dissolution of some guild. Cataclysm not only changed the face of the in game world but also changed the face of how the guilds worked.

Quote:
WoW definitely is dead, so many guilds disbanded already... : / Mine just disbanded, that was the end for me http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/characte...aelleth/simple

Rift is new.. you might wanna try it, I personally would never play that game, ever.
Just because you maxed your character does not mean its a dead game. You have not even done any Arena. Theres more than power leveling and gearing in the best gear and raiding. Perhaps another class?

Anyway, back on topic.
In order to play WoW you will need to purchase the Minimum Core box. That will get you to the level cap of 60. Yes there is a $14.99 monthly subscription fee. In order to get from levewl 60-70 you need to purchase the Burning Crusade expansion. This expansion will allow 2 new races, Blood Elves and Draenei. It will also open up new areas, dungeons and raids. You can usually get the Core and Burning Crusade in a Box set for about $30.
In order to get to level 80 you will need the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion. This will again open up new raids and dungeons and new areas to explore. New class available, Death Knight(must have a level 55 character in order to make a Death Knight.) No confirmation of a Box set with Wrath of the Lich King in it as of yet.
For the most recent Expansion. Cataclysm will allow you to level to the level cap of 85. This Expansion changed the face of Azeroth. Thus bringing new quest lines and a changed to some of the Factioned areas. New areas to explore etc. 2 more new races. Goblin and Worgen.

It all comes down to what you want to do. I have been playing WoW with my fiance for 4 years now. (Just proposed this last January) I have my own guild, which managed to survive the Cataclysm changes. I have several toons of varying classes so thatif I am not in the mood for mellee I have my casters or healers on both Alliance and Horde. WoW is constantly under going updates and changes in order to try to keep the gameplay and classes fluid and balanced(Blizzard does weekly updates on like Tuesdays I think.) Changes always tend to upset some people and appease others. Blizzard only does what they consider to be the best options for the game. Like any MMO with an average of 10 million players worldwide you are bound to have those that are not hgappy with the changes. Can't please everyone. Instead of those people trying to adjust to the changes, they complain and whine about how they wish things would go back to Vanilla(core) or they just quit. (probably like most other things in their lives.)

Don't let anyone but you make the decision whether or not to play WoW. I hope the info here was helpful. Remember that there is a $14.99 monthly subscription. If you don't pay you don't play. There are options to pay months in advance if you so choose and when you do that you do get a discount.

I wasn't looking to attack you either, I simply misinterpreted your post. My last comment could have been avoided and I apologize for that.

All I was trying to say was that if you're going to pay for a game to play, it would be best, in my opinion, to pay for 1 game instead of the 4 you would need to play WoW.

I can't just get the game for free and then pay monthly subscription?
You would have to buy the game (SE or CE), create a Trion account with the cd key from the game itself and then setup your payment method through your account for the monthly subscription which 14.99$.

Honestly, you'll always have the haters that come and go. There are plenty of examples in this forum alone. I have an 85 Fury Warrior but for some reason when I hit 85 and got my ilvl350 raiding gear, there didn't seem to be much else to do. I've never been big on instanced PvP so arenas and battlegrounds aren't a big selling point for me. Achievements are simply fluff and have absolutely no hodling with me whatsoever, so all there is left is raiding and my guild is definitely not ready for that so i was left to stand in Org doing nothing.

I was a huge fan of Warhammer Online because of its real-time PvP, which seems to be present for both PvE and PvP in Rift which makes the game feel more alive instead of running dungeon after dungeon. Obviously it's all personal opinion, but for me i think will be taking a break for now.

Congratulations on the engagement by the way!

just play the vanila wow until level 58. when you get to 58 if you want to keep playing pay for the BC expanssion. then if you still like it pay for the LK exp. and then if you want to keep playing get the Cata exp. then you have to wait for next exp. like me. im kind of tired of wow right now so im playing rift. but my wow account is still on standby.. cant delete it because i have 120k gold on my druid. but is a fun game. specialy once you start playing with a guild. and if you like to raid then wow is awesome for you.
