Can't really blame PC gamers for piracy, but you can blame PC owners, lol.

It's stupid to blame piracy for a failure within an industry when piracy has been rampant on consoles for years, way before even this generation of consoles (as far back as the Sega Saturn and Playstation that I can remember). Yeah sure there is piracy of PC games aswell (as far back as the cassette tape era), but the point here is that regardless of the piracy across any platform, it hasn't really hit the industry so badly that it has failed to succeed as a whole.

I think it's more of an excuse from developers to shift their focus to consoles where the big money is (and let's face it, that is where the money is at right this very moment within the industry). That, on top of the ease of development for consoles, is a more reasonable argument as to why developers favour consoles over PC, than the tired piracy argument that is no bigger an issue on PC than it is on any other platform.

Let's not forget about any other type of media aswell. Music, film, etc.

If something is good it will sell well regardless. The industry has proven it over the many years it has indured piracy.

PC Gamers shouldn't buy games from developers or publishers that treat their customers like criminals.

Imagine walking into a store where every employee and manager thinks you are going to pick-pocket something. That is what developers and publishers are doing to their customers.

PC Gamers don't have to take that.

I genuinely think that the reason COD 5-7 have sold worse on the PC than the Consoles is that PC gamers are more fussy and will not pay for COD 4 reskinned 4 times over.
And yet Black Ops and MW2 are the third and fourth most played games on Steam, just behind CS, and those two games generated almost 15% of all revenues for Steam in 2010 :

I know it's a fraction but still best selling PC game of 2010, and when you know it's a fraction but yet manages to outsell every other PC games by such a margin you have to worry about the low sales of PC games in general.

I like cod because it is similiar to cs, only with better graphics more weapons, perks, attaches and killstreaks.

I'm not going to keep playing cs at this point the graphics make my eyes hurt.

I wish gabe newell would release cs 2 but he is too busy making some stupid zombie games, so in the absence of cs 2 mw2 is the closest game with contemporary graphics to cs, that has the deathmatch gameplay and none of that stupid vehicle crap where you have to drive for 10 miles to find your opponents.

As a developer, why wouldn't I want to program for a console? It isn't about piracy people. Wake up. Every single Xbox 360 is just like every other one. Same goes for all consoles. The hardware is all essentially the same from unit to unit. So the variables are less. Hence easier to develop for. Now here is a shocker. Console games are pirated just as much as PC games. Yes indeed they are.
However, developing for the PC environment, which IMO will give a more immersive experience, developers have to allow for different processor speeds, different number of cores, different architecture of the processor and the support chips for it. And this is before we even get to the differences in memory, storage interfaces, graphics ability, HIDs (keyboard and mouse), and so forth. So you spend millions on getting your masterpiece to work on the vast majority of systems, which, while they are all similar, are also all different. And the title is pirated and on the net. Assuming of course that your title was even remotely interesting and well designed.
Consoles are easier and cheaper to design for.
And for the most part if I want to casually play, I will pull out the console. But when I want to get serious and really play something that blows me away, my PC wins every time.
