It just got underrated because it wasn't 10000000 hours long.
Kane & Lynch 2 didn't get a great reception because it was totally mediocre at best. Like Segovax said, it was pretty much just a spray and pray. I do like the characters, and the conversations Kane has with Lynch as you play, but gameplay-wise there isn't anything extraordinary there. I have a real love-hate relationship with the camera. Sometimes it helps to add some immersion and really get you in the moment, and other times it feels a little too wild and exhausting to follow. Also, the movie is Cloverfield! :B
I wouldn't really attribute its shortcomings to the length either. There are short games out there that are quite good, like Mirror's Edge or even the HL2 Episodes, and Portal.
