What about a developer such as Stardock? I don't think there games even have DRM, or if they do it is very minimal... I know Sins of a Solar Empire sold very well, but it was also pirated quite a bit too. It was a great game though, so probably a lot of those pirated downloads turned into sales. If you distribute a great game, it will sell, regardless of piracy figures. Although you might want to add some incentive to actually buy (besides the moral and legal reasoning) such as a multiplayer only working with a purchased copy. DRM is not necessary for a game to be successful and sell, and more likely hurts sales more than stops pirates...

Don't buy the game and don't pirate it that's simple, especially if you're bored with it after an hour.
On what logic is that based, if i dont buy the game either then how did the devs lose out.

I agree used games are more of a problem for crapsoles than piracy, because you are asking some 12 year old ignorant peasant to get his crapsole modded with a chip that's produced somewhere in China, it's a task that's fairly complex even for someone who is educated, then keep loging onto his PC and download all the games and burn them on DvD's.

99% of crapsole players just want to pop in the disc and play the game.

He has a point.
I buy my games and I'm not arguing that stealing is acceptable, but businessmen have to deal with the "free rider problem" all the time. Generally speaking we have to adapt to our market of customers while mitigating, as best we can, the non-paying. Unfortunately, a lot of the game developers are run by marketing and sales people that obsess on free riders to the detriment of both their paying customers and their product generally. Frogboy, from Stardock, wrote a great article on how these things need to be addressed professionally.

You are siding with the thieves that try to sell us crap for $60 and then complain that we're not buying it. And PLEASE don't tell me that it's not an excuse for pirating it, because I never said so.

As a previous poster said, all merchandise's cost vary according to quality. Why do most games cost $50-$60? The reason indie games are flourishing is not because they are some God sent gift. It's because they are priced correctly.

my point is, who cares?

Only 1 way to stop piracy , control and regulate the internet.

So than comes my point again....

Whos cares? When you play on the internet you live by its ruthless rules
Like it or not

A link from 1 computer to another and the right to send information from 1 computer to the other.

It cannot and will not be stopped EVER period.

So take your corporatism somewhere else.
