Am i too late to SLI 8800gt?

Thread Starter
Ive got a spare XFX 8800GT lying around i was thinking about building up a system with with these in it, connected up to a loop and everything. But a few questions...
  • Are these only cappable of two-way sli?
  • What can the performance of 2/4 of them be compared to?
  • How hard is it to find a decent nick XFX 8800gt around?

yeah go ahead and SLI

They will only do 2-way. And I would ballpark their performance to a GTX260... maybe core 216.

Two way SLI.

112 cores at ~600MHz.... A GTS450 with 192 cores at 783MHz is probably a bit faster than 8800GT SLI.

You can probably find a used 8800GT for $50-70.
Once again...

-yes they are sli capable
-probably perform around a single 5750 would be my guess
-eBay will be your best choice to find another one for sli

If I were you I would sell your current 8800gt and just buy a single 5770 1GB
post #5 of 8
8800GT only for SLI. The Scale of 8800GT SLI probably around 1.5 so it may close to GT450 or 5770...

Remember not all games play well with SLI though, so it will only be about as good as your single card in certain situations. I wouldn't bother and just grab a new card. GTX 460's are cheap, and should be a bit more powerful than 8800 SLI.

SLI 8800gt, ahh the good ol' days.

Remember going from a 7800gs to 8800gt.Sli ... Wow.

It was a similar difference going from 8800gt.Sli to HD5870.

IMO its kinda late for 8800gt.Sli; however for ~60-80$ you will not find much that can compete with it (considering you already have one card).
