SD card...um duh more space to be used...interchangable space at that.

USB...external hard drive, wired accessories (keyboard, mouse, console controllers, etc..etc.

I am actually REALLY surprised I didn't see a thunderbolt port on the iPad2. That alone might have been enough to convince me.

And that is exactly why they don't want you to have it.

I was really hoping they would add USB I still find it unbelievable they can disregard something so common and useful.

They make a lot of money off of their proprietary accessories, why use USB when they use their own port?

To purchase it

With your computer you'd think you could appreciate someone that is interested in future proofing. If not a USB out then they could have gone with thunderbolt (like their mac books) which soon will have many of the same connectivities but in a faster more efficient way.

Well, IMHO, future proofing on something like a mobile phone or a tablet is futile. By the time you buy something, there are announcements for a newer, better model.

By the time that you can purchase anything that is Thunderbolt compatible, there will be a new iPad out. So everything else inside of it will be out of date.

PCs are different. You can change discreet components as they get outdated.

Future proofing as in grabbing something that is new and cool and being able to utilize it for several years. And your exactly right they could come out with thunderbolt on iPad3 and that would force me to want the iPad3 next year but if they had it this year I wouldn't have purchased another one till probably the 5th generation.

Same as your components...you don't want to buy a new one every year if you can sustain for a couple generations.
