Too freaking easy.
Hmm, no.

My assumption is based on the actual drivers for the SGX543 found in iOS 4.3 Beta, and the rumour which said it'd have the MP2. I can dig these up if necessary. Taking into account that Apple says it offers up to 9x the performance, it has to be at the very least the MP2.

Where's your proof it uses the Orion?

And, IF IT IS using the Orion and the Orion has the SGX543MP2 then IT IS more powerful than the Tegra 2's graphics.

My God, could you do some reasearch. A4=Early Hummingbird with slower graphics, Orion is Samsungs Hummingbird successor therefore its quite easy to assume its the Orion in the iPad 2.

Face the facts, if Samsung made a better processor than the Tegra 2, they would use it.

I don't need to because that's not the point I'm trying to make. And why wouldn't you have just said that in the first place?

Hummingbird, however, upgrades to PowerVR SGX540, which is way faster than 535, but still uses acceleration technology developed by Intrinsity, a company which Apple bought last year.

Perhaps that acquisition is the reason why Samsung went with something else than PowerVR for its own dual-core chipset. In February last year it announced that it will use not only ARM’s CPU architecture, but its graphics chip designs as well, called Mali. There are different versions of how fast the quad-core Mali-400 GPU in Orion is.
According to this, it doesn't have the SGX543MP2 in it.

EDIT: I can't really find any solid info on how many triangles the iPad actually pushes, so I'll just have to wait for iPad 2 to be exactly sure how powerful it's GPU is.

I guess you are right about the Mali 400, being the Orion GPU. With that said, I don't really care anymore.

Its going to be quite clear that the Tegra 2 is going to be the king until Kal-el comes out and thats just a whole new book of worms.

Just on more note, if the SGX543MP2 is faster its going to really show in games in comparison to the Xoom because of the resolution difference.

I'm really on the fence about what to pick, I really love Android and flashing new roms and such but xoom is $800 and reading XDA forums has me worried as people are saying that it is having problem with certain video files extensions. Although, I really need to figure out the performance of the Xoom at a 1.5GHZ OC that it already has, I want to see what it can do to the iPad 2, for me though, it's looking iPad 2, tried picking up a Xoom tonight and BB was sold out or I'd be here offering more input for you guys.

Tegra Tegra! I would say it's about the equivalent of a 65nm Core 2 Duo on an 8500GT at really low res.

Speaking of which.. Where's Asus' EEE Slider and Transformer!

No they won't, because Apple will not let you do all the stuff I want, like two way usb on the go, and using the tablet as a truly standalone product, that will simply plug and play into any standard pc without needing itunes crap. Hopefully once Jobs is gone, apple will go the same way.

I just wish that they had some solid info for these sort of things, very difficult to find.
