Step-up or not?

$150 to step up from 570 to 580.
Games I play are SC2, BF:BC2, and eventually going to get Battlefield 3.
I have 5 days left to step-up.

EDIT: I payed $359.99 so it will be more like $160.

I'm in a very similar situation as you, except I have about 2 months left on my step-up. I'm thinking I might just SLI another 570, though. You can pick them up used already for about $300, maybe a little under. Brand new prices are falling, too. Maybe hold off 2 more months see where the prices go to?

I'd take SLI 570 > GTX 580. You also are using the P7P55 SC board, so you could throw in a GTS 450 for Physx later on, too

I prefer only using 1 card, and its cheaper to go with 1 580 rather than 2 570's with the step-up process. :\\ Btw does anyone know how long the step-up process takes? I'd have to throw in my old 5770 card.

I believe a 570 will play almost anything at 1920x1080 is what he was referring to.

Yes, it is cheaper. But the gain from GTX 570-580 won't be worth $150 at all at 1920x1080. I have both cards, and I play the same games and am really looking forward to BF3 as well. You'd be better off stashing that $150 and adding a bit to it, then come October/November when BF3 comes out--you can purchase another card. If you're against SLI though, then you really have no option except GTX 580 or saving the cash.

Yeah but anything on High settings? What about Battlefield 3? I'm pretty sure that game will need a better card than a 570 to run on high.

BF3 is a long ways away in the video card world and I would probably just set aside an upgrade fund at that time. EVGA's stepup process for me was waiting 2 months in a queue of 1000+ people and I was not a happy bro. If you want you can just iniate a stepup now and see what your place in line would be and then decide from there.

I'm #518 in line. That will be perfect because I don't really need to have the 580 right now.. Although it would be nice..
