clamp size

Thread Starter
If I use a 7/16" ID and 5/8" OD hose over a 1/2" barb, what size clamp will I need if I want to go ahead and clamp em down anyway? Will it be 5/8" OD tube or 3/4" OD tube?

EDIT: Clamps I am looking at are http://www.jab-tech.com/Plastic-Tubing-Clamps-Black-pr-3522.html

5/8" clamps

@ least that is what I get and that is what works

Medium for Tubing with an OD of 0.59" to 0.67" (5/8" OD Tube) - via

I went with the smaller tubing for the 1/2" barbs like you and I used stainless steel clamps I really don't like pastic they have failed me before in other applications. I used Breeze Miniature Hose Clamp 7/16 in. to 25/32 in. and they work like a champ. If color really is an issue just paint em, I wouldn't risk going with plastic and having em break if a hose bursts.

I find it hard and even impossible that any tubing could "burst" rolleyes.gif and break a hose clamp.

You have to remember the flow rate we are working with here wink.gif

I also run metal hose clamps because I think they look way better then the plastic ones, period, for looks, not because I am worried about breaking a plastic clamp
