Windows 7 going weird?!

Thread Starter
OK, this is kinda weird.

As usual I left my computer on and went to the kitchen to get something to eat...

When I returned, the screen was switched off because I haven't moved my mouse or anything for a while. But when I turned the screen back on, my screen resolution jumped to 1024x768 from my normal 1920x1080.

I didn't really thought it was a problem since I just changed it back in resolution settings.

But after a while I restarted the system, (my resolution even in bios normally is 1920x1080) the bios was in some random resolution and I checked my screen and it said 480p HDMI...

Then I was greeted with not the Windows 7 starting up animation but the Vista one.

After booting into the system the resolution was stuck at 1024x768 and the system don't recognise any resolutions higher than 1280x720... I tried to change it to 1080p in Nvidia Control Panel but it just reversed it back to 1024x768...

I tried system recovery, didn't work. Reinstalled gpu driver, didn't work...

Now I'm real confused... Virus?! Hardware problem?!

I NEED HELP!!!

Thanks in advance

Hmmm.... That has the smell of a virus to me. A "new" virus hit the internet over this last weekend before a lot of AV programs had a chance to update to protect against it. Maybe try getting the latest updates to your AV/Malwarebytes/SBSD and run them.

If you don't have Vista installed, then you have a virus for sure.

Download mbam and see what it finds. Just make sure you update it, but it does it for you when you install it. What antivirus are you currently running on your pc?

ok i use mbam and it found a few viruses and trojans inside the C:/Windows folder, and 2 in system32.

So i think the viruses have been cleaned, but I tried to install windows 7 again because it was messed up by the virus using the upgrade option in the i nstall disk, but my system is still stuck at 1024x768... with the vista start up screen...

btw my bios settings were reset as well, I only just noticed that today before installing windows 7 again...

When in the bios screen or safe mode of win7, the screen is messed up with parts of the screen on all 4 sides cutten off...

HELP?!

they have probably been experimenting with virus's on your computer for months and you are just now figuring it out lol
you should probably take the pro out of your user name other wise you wouldnt have downloaded a virus
oh and i would change all the passwords you use on your computer from another computer and format the drive and flash the bios
also make sure they did not enable external pop3 on your email
