Meh, always use a 64-bit OS, unless you know you need 32-bit for some kind of compatibility issue.

64. Just in case you upgrade to more in the future.

Either will work but if your hardware supports it go with 64 bit, 32 is old news and soon to be a thing of the past.

well now days everysingle OS out there is 64 bit, so if u ware trying to communicate with other easily then 64, if you are a loner(hahahaa) then go 32 bit, but 32 bit should be faster, since you are almost at max of its ram limit

Hi.

If you laptop support more RAM and you want install more that 3GB in future, then, get the x64 OS. If that's not your case, the 32 bits is enough.

32 Or 64 Bit choice is up to you, there are though some obvoius limitations on 32bit. The reason why is how memory is actually addressed within the system.

Explanation (probably more than you bargained for but still a fun read is as follows):

The Processor is designed so that the contents of a single register can store the address in the computer's memory. So the total number of addresses is determined by the size of these registers. Back in 8086 - 80286 these register were 16bit wide thus hardware limited the max amount of adressable ram to 2^16 = 65536 or 64k of memory. Now back then, when we wrote software, we realized the obvious limitation of this. So what we would do is use what was known as a selector offset to select memory that was above the 64k memory boundry. The selector offset was a 1 byte value we could put into an offset register, making all addressable maximum memory 2^24 = 16,777,216 or 16 megs of ram. That was a physical limitation of 16 bit computing. Eventually we moved into the 32bit world, thus making all addressable memory off the 32 bit register 2^32 = 4,294,967,296 or about 4gig's. As that became a limitation and more addressable memory was needed, we have moved to 64bit systems smile.gif or 2^64 = 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 which brings our max addressable RAM up to 18 exabytes, or you can think of it as 18,446,744 terabytes. If you think you're going to install more than this in the system im sorry you will have to wait for the 128bit architecture wink.gif

Moral:
Now you may say, I don't think we will ever need to address over 18 exabytes! But you know what, when I was programming on a 16 bit processor I said, there will never be a need to address over 16 meg's!! But hey, I was an idiot back then. Never say never, eventually we will.

TL;DR; Version -
16bit - Using selector offset 24bit - 2^24 = 16,777,216 - 16Megs Max Memory
32bit - 2^32 = 4,294,967,296 - 4Gigs Max Memory
64bit - 2^64 = 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 - 18Exabytes (evenutally when software complies) Max Memory

i don't think you should just go by how much ram you have......64bit IMO runs a little snappier than 32bit and deffinitely is less prone to viruses......now unless you have very high-end laptop you're not going to use that 3GB anyway, and honestly in the curent level of software technology i think people should only run 32bit IF their hardware doesn't support 64bit

If your hardware doesn't support 64bit, you have no choice but to run 32bit software. You cannot fit 64bit instructions into a 32bit register. As for speed differences between the two a 64-bit processor moves 64 sets of zero/one bits simultaneously, SO if the software is written correctly towards a 64 bit processor certain aspects of it can run double the speed of 32bit.

I don't think that's going to be an issue; the 64-bit DVD will simply refuse to boot on a 32-bit-only system.
