Add a few more "moves"... Maybe some limited climbing (it kind of annoyed me at times how some things were obviously climable, like the scaffolding, but you had to run/jump around it because the game said so).

Actually add multiple routes through some (not all) levels, so it doesn't feel like you're being shepherded through the level the whole time.

More interesting achievements.

Semi-freeroam levels (but not the entire game. The structuredness of the first was part of what gave it its character, but a few larger levels with a lot of back and forth across them would be nice once or twice, and they really let you extend gametime for limited extra effort).

Other people in the timetrials (e.g. adding ghosts in the 1st one. Maybe having a few freeroam timetrial levels with multiple non-ghosts and a tiny bit of combat to make things challenging).

If I were to add MP combat, it wouldn't be lethal, simply a method of slowing someone down or preventing them from following you, or perhaps knocking someone off of a building.

The ability to grab onto a building if you just walk off of it. I mean, seriously, why couldn't Faith do that in the first one? Also, see relevance to MP combat mentioned above.

A good, easy-to-use map editor with the ability to publish maps online, with a semi-decent way of having the public vote for them to keep them relevant. Also allow external hosting and modding for greater customisation. (i.e. don't limit it to just mods that can be aquired from whatever in-game method you use for acquisition).

"Better", more involving story. There are hundreds of good authors out there who can write stories better than most games. Why not get one of them to write something good, and then base the game's story around it, rather than coming up with an idea and getting people to write the story?

Faith not instantly being proficient with every gun you throw her way. She's not Gordon Freeman. I don't expect her to be a crack shot with a sniper rifle, or a crossbow, or the random SMG that the Police Force carry. Heck, I don't even expect her to be all that accurate with a pistol. It's harder than it looks!

No PhysX. (I don't want to have to play it on my laptop to make it look shiny )

A similar graphical style, but with better texture quality and bump mapping.

Interesting mini-games. They don't have to make sense, but would be easy to add multiplayer to. A bit like what you had in Pokemon Stadium on the N64 - random little games that don't take too much time but add lots of fun moments with friends.
(The one I have pictured in my mind sounds crazy but would probably be fun to do - where the floor is separated into different moving pathways, a bit like you get in airports only without the barriers, and you have to run against them trying to make headway while dodging objects moving towards you, switching isles and pushing away opponents to get into the best lane. Attacking an opponent slows you down somewhat, meaning that you "do your best running" when not distracted. Add in a wide variety of interesting obstacles, perhaps the odd NPC and you have a weird mini-game that would probably take five minutes to play through at most, but could have an interesting multiplayer dynamic).

A police Vs. runner MP mode. Potentially with more than 1v1. Ideally if it's more than 1v1 having multiple routes would be good (another use of those few "freeroam" maps that I mentioned before). Hidden "shortcuts" everywhere, of course, to make it more than just about the running - also about spotting the best route as well as making the best lines.

There are probably a few more things that I'd put in, but those are the ones that come to mind, in no particular order.
Ultimately, I doubt much of that will make it into Mirror's Edge 2, if it ever gets made, but I'd love to see even a bit of it in there.
See you guys simply ask for too much. Then when it's announced that it'll be $60, then you see the "Try-Before-I-Buy" crowd pop up :/

Anyway, On-Topic:

I thought the first one was almost perfect. What was lacking was depth in the story. For ME2 they need to focus on the politics, and the world around you.

Is asking them to take the first game and expand upon it in a few different ways a bad thing?

The main flaws (as I saw it):

1) Perfectly linear level design in a game whose basis is supposed to be freedom of movement.
2) The game felt like it was limited in movement (i.e. climbing) when it was about feeling free to move/act almost however when "freerunning".
3) The combat.
4) The length of the story.
5) The amount of effort they put into making it feel real (acceleration/camera bob/seeing limbs etc) highlighted the lack of realism for damage.
6) The lack of multiplayer in anything but its most rudimentary form.
7) The inability to mod into the game easily.

I'm not saying that they can or should try and fix all of it, but I'd like to see them attempt most of it. I'm not suggesting an entirely free roaming game, but more than one way to "solve" a level, and less of an emphasis on fighting at times would be nice.

The rest of what I said as simply the idea of progress. The first game's graphics were great, but the main area it was let down (in my opinion) was in the odd texture and its bump mapping. If I expect a game's sequel released some years later to have better graphics, those are the area I'd suggest were improved first.

The mini-games might have been a bit much, but EA are looking to appeal to a wider audience, and that sort of thing can help sell a game with very little effort on the behalf of the developer. It adds a more casual side to a game that almost anybody can just pick up and play. I doubt we'll see this, but I think it could be nice if they did add it... If they did it properly.
Realistically though? No, but I can hope...

Actually no, asking them to expand on the first game isn't a bad thing.

What is bad is the way the general community goes about demanding features, and find a reason to *****, moan, and squeal over EVERYTHING!

And again, tie into that the "try-before-I-buy' crowd.

It's not that i disagree with what you're saying, it's just that you know these things tend to play out nowadays between the community and developers.

Mirror's Edge loved clock speeds, not cores.

I had a 2.1GHz C2D and ran ME at 40 fps, then I overclocked it to 2.8GHz and got 50+fps

Mirror's Edge did so poorly? I bought it--I wasn't in love with it, but it's better than a lot of games out there. It had issues, that a few people here have pointed out.

I'd be wary of any possible game, where the Dev says "we're really going to need a good, interested audience, if we will continue this project." That just implies to me that no one is particularly interested in progressing it, so it will suck by default.

Love Mirror's Edge. I REALLY hope they make another.

I never liked the fact that you almost never saw any people, except from a distance. I know their budget was limited, but in some ways i think they went overboard with the clean Utopian environment to the point where it was too clean and empty.
I actually hadn't thought about it that way (in regards to a more open environment and more people), but I really think that's a good idea. I didn't mind the linear gameplay, but more exploration and open-ended environments are something I'd like to see.

Also, as others have mentioned, I'd like to see them build on a deeper, more complex story, as well.
