Yeh I watched something like this on TV regarding nanotechnology and medicine. Nano particles able to deliver chemotherapy drugs directly to the cancerous tissue without harming nearby healthy cells. Pretty amazing in my opinion.

The Medical and Drug industry won't let this happen. Corporate funds are far too important then curing sick and dying people.

Sorry OP RBC dont cure cancer or aids or HIV, those illnesses deal with the WBC , red blood cells just transport oxygen and co2, and maintain the bodies homeostasis.

But the benefits are there such as creating universal blood for transfusions.

UNC represent!

It's amazing how far science has progressed. Hopefully this won't be ridiculously expensive, it would be extremely useful for places that don't have a large amount of technology if this can be administered like a transfusion. Think of how easy it would be for aid workers to use this to cure people.

I wonder how long it will be until we have everything in a pill with no side effects. Broken bone? Take a bone binding/regrowth pill. Having a heart attack? There's a pill for that too.

We're living in the future, and we take it for granted.

This was almost painful to read. The whole point is that they're TECH that mimic the SIZE and SHAPE of RBC's. They're not real RBC's or attempting to do the functions of RBC's (though, in time, they'll be able to if that's the task we set them to).

Because they mimic the size and shape of RBC's, they will be accepted more readily by the body, and stay in circulation long enough to deliver medications and do other nifty things....Yes, like cure cancer, or attack HIV.
