MW2 has more plausible script based on geopolitical realities of todays world as opposed to some boring game about alien attack.

I really like how Valve came up with an innovative idea for a script: "Let's make a game where the earth gets attacked by aliens" ... Wow that's so fresh idea, that totally hasn't been done 100 million times before ...
Yeah, because its today's events, it makes it much more interesting. Because war games are really creative.

Totally bro, totally.

In the comparison of COD vs Valve using the same engines. COD, same. damn. thing. over. and over. and over. and over. There is no variety, just different war eras. Valve? You have several choices and stories to go after. I guess it's a "to each his own" type deal, but personally I prefer more variety.

At least in the battlefield series they use different engines and try to mix things up. You can tell BF3 isn't going to be anything like BFBC2 as far as the story goes. COD? You're always chasing down some bad ass looking guy with a thick accent, and the story is so short they pack it with slowmo to make it seem longer.

If an innovative idea is incorporated into a game which ultimately changes the experience for they better, it's still innovation. Even if it's a small change that we barely notice, it's still innovation. I can tell you that the Source engine is very versatile and it didn't get there by lack of innovation and only patching bugs. Valve pushes their engine to limit to see what it can do instead of playing it safe and putting out the same thing five times over.

CoD games, especially the past few, have felt extremely similar to each other. The story can be as unique as it wants but with the same feel it's just like playing one of its predecessors. Sure developing a new engine could be counter productive, but it's what stands between the CoD series dying a painful humiliating death (anyone noticed how bored people are with BlOps?) and CoD surpassing the competition once again by giving the players a new experience.

I'll take MW2 engine over source engine any time of the day.

Oh, you mean the CoD 2 engine from 1999. Any reason you picked an engine from 1999 that has received zero modification over one that is being updated with every game that uses it? Could it be fanboi syndrome?

They should run the Pong engine, I heard that gets good FPS.

The problem is not the devs really. They don't need to do anymore at the moment it works the way it has for the last 7 years. The problem is sony and microsoft. They need to come out with new consoles, DX11, more power, Higher res, AA. Which is more than possible considering the cost of hardware these days, but they themselves are busy milking the console market, getting people to buy the old dated hardware. Hell, you could build a desktop for $500 that could do it pretty damn good. Although I doubt we will see a new console until the HDTV market see's its next jump to higher resolutions, and the Console makers have a reason to upgrade their aging units.

You are completely not understanding what the difference is, you could use source to make a game that looks IDENTICAL to MW2, is almost nothing to do with how it frickin looks (with the exception of the way the light is rendered).
The fact that all you care about is how nice the textures and models are shows that you dont even have the slightest idea what a game engine is.

There were also maps that looked like this

and this

and this

I like how you chose one of the simplest competition maps to "prove" your point that MW2 is better than a game made 6 years ago. The models and textures may be better but that doesnt mean anything.
