It's a good engine, why do you have such a big problem with it? If they'd just remake CoD4 with endgame kill-cams and better hit-boxes I'd be the happiest guy alive.

Well so was the Doom Engine, yet you don't see games still running that now do you? Honestly why are people so opposed to progression and so mind controlled/brain washed to buy every single rehash of a game a bad dev puts out?
What Bowling meant to say was it takes years and years to develop and get it right while losing a substantial amount of money because they aren't shoveling out a CoD game every year.
Actually, considering the level of detail on such an un-demanding engine, it's pretty impressive. No where near the level of the Crytek engine, but still good.

In other words it means: We are too lazy to develop a new engine, and instead we will use an engine from 1999, re-skin it and slap on an expensive over-hyped title, and of course milk you and add overpriced DLC.
This is a fine example and a confirmation that developers are getting lazy by half-ass'ing customers with their washed up recycled games, and STILL charge $60...
why make a new engine ? if they made a new engine it means it will require more power to run ( because it;s gonna look better won't it?) and current cod engine probably usues all the power of consoles.
the sad thing is.. they can just make another game.. not even bother advertising it.. and just watch all the cod fanboys advertise it for free... theres some revenue saved for them... whats there escuse ? oh right.. consoles... "Sigh"... ahh well... COD isnt getting anything from me until i see gameplay worth investing into.
"That would be counter productive," tweeted IW community man Robert Bowling. "An engine takes years and years to develop and get right." We'd rather keep the maximum profit margin possible at the expense of user enjoyment.
Why would they make a new engine? Every COD sells like mad, Console is their target market, and no new Consoles on the horizon. As a business move, it would be counter productive and a waste of money rather us PC gamers like it or not

I don't have a problem with the engine itself, but the ideals the developers are using. They're basically saying "We're not making a new engine because we know pre-teen kids will buy regardless. So to maximize our profits, we'll just reuse this engine until we feel that it's dead for sure." I don't really agree with reusing and milking the cow until it absolutely cannot be milked anymore.
It's funny how when COD makes a reskin, everyone is up in arms, but when Valve makes Half Life 2: Episode 3123465456423 reskin, they're like: "Graphics doesn't matter we're all about gameplay"

Graphics dont matter, CoD gameplay hasnt changed a bit. HL episode 1-2 were expansion packs and priced accordingly (£5-10). HL2>CSS that was cheap unlike the COD games.

That's because Valve has actually retooled the Source Engine a great many times to improve performance, graphical detail, and usability not just "re-skinned" it. It's no Crysis, but don't say games like TF2, LFD and Portal are "re-skins" of one another...
