[EG]New COD engine "counter-productive" - Page 7

I have 3 nephews ages 10-13 that I game with. 2 out of the 3 think CoD BO have better graphics and physics than BC2. Kids don't know/care what DX11 is. CoD will always be the game for kids and Battlefield will always be the game for adults.

Probably what Bowling really meant is an engine takes $$$ and more $$$ to develop and get right.

It's not as though there is zero graphical progression. The engine is being altered & improved; just not totally redone from the ground up.

Go play though CoD4 then go play through Black Ops (on PC); there is a noticeable difference in graphics fidelity.

hilarious.

This is the only thing they can come up with to counter the awe that is battlefield 3.

"Durr well we would make a new engine, but this one works just fine"

yeah, it did. 5 years ago.

I think his point is that L4D2 looks good & that's all that matters.

MW2 engine is a very well built, I get 90 fps all the time @ 5760 x 1080, as opposed to BFBC2 enigine which won't display more than 40 fps no matter which graphic settings I use, and the graphics look nearly the same.

You realize that MW2 is using Doom3 engine and BFBC2 got destructible environments, dx11 support, around twice the resolution, bullet physics and the list goes on? and do not forget 4x the size of any cod map ever if not more. The engine is fresh new and is made for modern computers mainly, compared to Blops engine that goes on console to spare itself a bit XD.

MW2 IS the same engine basically...

Those FPS numbers is a CPU bottleneck from your Q6600!! LOLOL

Please, it doesn't matter if the engine runs well or not, the idea is that these developers are half-assing their games. Sure it's ok to reuse the engine in a sequel, but using it for 5+ games is just lame.

TBH I am in love with the engine for CoD4-MW2
they look really good, and they aren't demanding at all.
Black Ops on the other hand- not so much.
